The crystal football Alabama won for beating LSU in the BCS championship game in January was shattered on A-Day when it was accidentally knocked off a display by the father of a current player.

No problem, we have more....(g)
Funny - Our hopes of a run to the BCS title this year appears to have been fumbled by a shattered Harley in a roadside ditch in Northern Arkansas.
Oh, that`s just a TBF torque trim tab.

I truly feel sorry for this father - just imagine - his son is a new player and his first big A day game..... glad they didn’t release his name!
What do they do with the Stanley Cup? Members of the winning team get a few days with it in the off season — but now Discover, is it? is letting fans have a day with it. I wouldn’t want some security guard around me making sure I didn’t lose it or break it.
I know there’s a duplicate in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto...
Being the lady that I am, I will refrain from comment and just read this thread with a silly grin on my face.
My daughter held our trophy when publicity pictures were taken at Toomers. She is in the Heisman pose with it, lol!
I’ll bet the torque from the Wright R-2600-20 Cyclone 14 twin-row radial engine (which produced 1,900 hp) WAS a bear!
The T-28 with the R-1820 single row 9 cylinder 1425hp was a beast on no-flap touch & goes. I had a buddy torque roll one 720 degree while practicing approach turn stalls at 5,000’ AGL.
Now THAT woke up his flight instructor in the back seat!
(sorry ‘bout the rabbit trail...the original thread was just such a sad story...)
Can’t wait for Ky’s championship to be vacated. The SEC is in shambles.
No idea what that was supposed to mean.
I wonder if they ever got the dent out of it from the day the Stars took it to Pantera drummer Vinnie Paul's house?
You’ll turn Blue (UK Blue) waiting for that. Must be a Big Ten fan. Just can’t past the SEC any other way.
When the Dallas Stars won the Stanley Cup my cousin knew one of the players at the time. The player came to visit my cousin and had the Cup with him. He got a picture of his oldest son, then less than a year old, sitting in the Stanley Cup. Cool memento for the rest of the kid’s life!
My totally irrelevant comment was in regards to “bunkerhill’s” comment “Oh, that`s just a TBF torque trim tab.”
The aircraft in the photo in Post #5 is a TBF/M Avenger, which had a radial engine producing 1900 hp and loads of Torque. A third of one wing shot away was about what was required to counteract the torque & “P-factor” (propeller) from that powerful an engine. Ergo the “TBF torque trim tab”
“ comment. The F4U Corsair of Black Sheep Squadron fame was far worse for having so much torque & P-factor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F4U
The T-28 I mentioned was the T-28 Trojan. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T-28_Trojan
Sorry for the confusion, but once you go down that rabbit trail, there’s no turning back. After all, Jimmy Carter’s killer bunny may be out there!
Need I say /sarc.
Wrong! I live in the South, just can’t stand the SEC.
Fun starts around the 1:44 mark
It’s a sign. Don’t visit the WH with the trophy this week.
Hubby said there are folks bidding for pieces of the broken glass. Crazy Bama fans.
It’s good to know that Bama isn’t the only school to have this happen.
First, I hate UK....luv the Louisville Cards though.....why do you think they will have to vacate the title?
Yeah I know all about Cal....thought you might have some inside info.....
Alabama should have never been in the BCS championship in the first place.
Soooo glad she didn't drop it ..... when you think about it - its pretty amazing they allow it to travel around and be held by so many - my first re-action was a smile, too. But then I read about the father and tried to imagine how he must have felt.... poor old dad!!!
I only understood part of it as well.
But I know the reason for the knowledge of those who do and we all should be thankful to them.
A hearty “Thank you” to those men and women who gave us the luxury of being ignorant of the details necessary to operate such machines so we all could live a peaceful normal life.
I live in the South, just cant stand the SEC.Yeah, we have a crazy aunt like that too, but we love her anyways.
Well clearly this is God’s Way of saying that Oklahoma State should have been in the BCS championship game (LOL)!
