Eve was unarmed. She wasn't wearing a hoody. She was murdered. Are you angry?
Letters from a whoremongers wife ^ | A whoremongers wife

I don’t have to tell you I’m not a racist; my life speaks for me.  Yet, I will probably be called a racist because of this post.

I don’t like what happened to Trayvon Martin and I don’t claim to understand the frame of mind George Zimmerman was in when he fired his weapon. I don’t know the whole story behind the story. None of us do, yet. But this I know: a kid is dead and his killer is being publicly executed.  The state of Florida is investigating the killing more slowly than some think is necessary and the Panthers have a bounty on Zimmermans’ head. People are angry with Florida. But more than being angry with Florida, people are Outraged at what they believe to be death by Racial Profiling. Perhaps profiling was a factor in the killing of Trayvon, unfortunately profiling happens everyday. But it isn’t a problem patented by one race. It’s a problem in every race.

One can profile without regard to race but by appearance, suspicious behavior, etc.

Forgot to add that one of the perps who killed Carson is shown in an ATM security camera photo as clearly wearing a hoodie (although this factoid did not come to public attention until well after Obama’s speech).

Jesse Jackson admits HE profiles based on race.

Smart people profile based on situation.

Lemme construct a scenario for you (yeah, I know that it's a strawman argument, but it was presented to me this way and I really agreed with it....).

It's after dark, you're at a walk-up ATM. You see a young black male, wearing a (gasp) hoodie and ghetto-bag pants. His hands are stuffed in his pockets. He's ambling up slowly towards you, looking around from side to side. What do you do?

Me, I get the heck out of there. Call me a racist for it.

Now, turn it around. You're at the same ATM. Same time. Same situation. Same black kid. Except THIS time, instead of thug-life clothing, he's wearing a neatly tailored suit. And instead of his hands jammed in his pockets, he's carrying a briefcase in one hand and an ATM card in the other. He's striding purposefully towards the ATM.

Would you even give him a second look, or a second thought?

Definitely get away from the first one.

I’d still eye the second one more than a white guy dressed in a suit. Just out of the pure crime stats I am far more likely to have trouble with a black person than a white person.

Now, to be fair, if I saw a white guy dressed like the first black guy you mentioned, dressed gangsta or street, I’d get the hell out of there as well. I would go so far if it was a woman or group of women dressed thugly and throwing off a bad vibe, I’d get out of there and be prepared for trouble. Nowadays you cannot trust anyone. Even young punks go after bigger people if they are armed.

In the end, it really does more boil down to visual and body language more than race. If you have someone who looks like trouble and walking like trouble, be it black, hispanic, asian, or white, common sense says to avoid them if possible and raise your awareness in case you need to defend yourself.

And today the tables are flipped unequally.

White guy in a wrong neighborhood at night gets beaten up or killed, people say “what’d he expect, he shouldn’t be in that neighborhood at night”.

However, black thugs roaming around YOUR neighborhood at night, if they get shot busting into a home, they have the Trayvon Martin defenders out there squaking about racism and profiling and we have to disarm white people so our thug black people can terrorize you where you live and be able to steal, rape and murder you in safety.

Exactly, and they guy I was talking to (who presented these points to me) made the same secondary argument. It's the situation, not the color of person's skin. I expect there are plenty of people - including some on FR - who would say "Hey! Don't judge me! I have the right to wear what I want, whenever I want", etc etc etc, bend that argument however you'd like...

For which my attitude is that if you don't want to be judged like a thug, don't act or dress like one. Trayvon, the kid who started this whole mess, was dressed the part, he was behaving suspiciously, and he was in an area where he didn't usually frequent. Now did he deserve to get shot for that? Nope, and I think Zimmerman should at least be vetted (IMO, the police already did that, but that's just my opinion) for his actions.

However, if I see an unfamiliar kid - black or no - dressed the part of a thug and wandering aimlessly in the rain in my neighborhood - I'm going to check him out, too. Or give 911 a call and ask the local cops to check on him.

That's just the kind of paranoid guy I am, though. I (like you) also keep an eye on others who approach me while I'm at an ATM. :-)

Life IS an exercise in one kind of 'profiling' or another on a day-to-day basis.

Those who say they don't engage in it are: a) truly naive, b) morons, or c) liars.

This marxist maggot in the WhiteHut and his racist fellow travelers have had as much success boosting profiling as they have with gun sales.

If you're out in public - esp. urban public - and your head's not a swivel, you're a fool AND a target.

One last thing about Eve…one of her assailants testified that she asked them to pray with her before they killed her.
“Let’s pray”, she said. One of the ATM videos shows Eve in the backseat of her vehicle with her murderers, she has her hands in the air, a Be True bracelet is on her wrist. Her head is bowed in prayer.

If I see a white lad with his head shaved, wearing track suit pants and a Liverpool top, and walking towards me at an ATM, I would probably be just as frightened of him as I would a black thug with gold teeth wearing a hoodie, does that make me racist for profiling? Frankly I couldn’t care less, it means my survival skills are in tact.

There is a stark difference.. it is what I would now refer to as an “Opportunistic Death”. The death does not matter much to the Revs, it is the opportunity that matters.
