Should our fine financial system cease functioning cash will become a rare and precious medium. Over the years Americans have exchanged paper currency with confidence. Yet, today everyone's cash is a digital value out of hand. Our vast nationwide cash money market holdings greatly exceed any paper currency supply making any Bank run a momentary event. Should the financial house of cards crash, holders of green back US Dollars will be able to engage in trade. Gold hoarders will not know what to do. Credit cards won't work. Checks won't either. If you can't barter, cash will be king. Get cash and stash it. Money markets pay nothing and can't truly guarantee any liquidity when you really need it.

cash will be nothing more than paper to light a fire. gasoline will be non existant and if you had it, it and you car would be quickly stolen if caught driving down the road.
food, ammo, guns, clothes, firewood, vitamins, medicine, fresh water will be the ONLY currency.

To the extreme your have all approach is correct. But if you need to trade and can’t barter cash option is useful. You might make a friend and remain locked and loaded.
Old cash is good for toilet paper, but you have to sterilize it first. New cash is great for patching holes in you shoes. You know it is made from cotton?

Show an active precious metal/coin market operating today used directly for goods and services please. You gold coin for a loaf of bread? You will use your gun before spending the gold. Tell me you wouldn’t .
Dome shaped lead coins about 9mm in diameter are going to be the currency of the day in the not too distant future.
