Sources: Gingrich cancels North Carolina trip
WCNC ^ | April 20, 2012 | Dave Wagner

Posted on 04/20/2012 5:23:10 PM PDT by No One Special

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – There is increased speculation Friday evening about the political future of Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich.

Sources told NewsChannel 36 Gingrich has canceled all of his appearances in North Carolina next week.

Gingrich was scheduled to make multiple appearances throughout the state, including a visit to Lincoln Charter School in Denver next Wednesday. Fourth graders planned to present him with an American history project.

“We are disappointed that the Gingrich camp has decided to cancel the entire NC tour,” said Lincoln Charter School Chief Administrator Dave Machado. “We were looking forward to the opportunity to showcase the accomplishments of the LCS Community. It is unfortunate for our students and for that we are disappointed.”

The former Speaker of the House was also set to talk with an Honors Civics and Economics class at the school.

The Gingrich campaign is reportedly millions of dollars in debt.

North Carolina holds its primary on May 8.

On Newt’s Facebook page there’s a message saying the Gingrich camp says the NC campaign is on, it was a “communications glitch.”

I still say it’s the Romney camp, which begs the question-—if he’s got it all sewn up, why bother with the dirty tricks?

If Gingrich drops out and doesn’t follow thru on his campaign til the convention after he told us he would, I’m am going to be so disappointed and completely lose all my respect for Newt. We all know he will probably not get the nomination, but he is the only one who understands how to bring the hammer down on these rinos in this STUPIDass republican party!

It’s no longer about Mitt.

I will continue to campaign against the liberal Romney all the way up to November if required.

We don't need a liberal in the White house with the imprimeteur of the R behind his name.

That just moves the country farther left.

We've played this game before.

The GOP can go to hell unless they produce a conservative at the convention.

“The Romney campaign’s recent cash inflow made it easier for him to offer to liquidate Newt’s campaign debt, in effect buying him out of the race.”

Your statement reminds me of a quote from the 1987 movie Wall Street by one of the sales managers to stockbroker Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen). “The one thing about money, Bud, it makes people do things they don’t want to do.”

Oh, boo-hoo. Santorum dropped out because he saw that he wouldn’t even win his own state. Pennsylvanians know he’s a lying crapweasel and not the conservative he said he would be. It’s not Newt’s fault or anyone else but Santorum’s fault he fizzled. This election’s about the economy, and Rick couldn’t stay on that message.

So you are Republican, and not conservative?

Romney is Obama. Their personal platforms are the same. They voted the same way, they pushed the same things. Sad to say, Romney is better at getting things done than Obama, hence Romneycare which is in place, over-budget, and fraught with problems.

Sad, that a Freeper would decend so far as to forget that we are supposed to be about a FREE REPUBLIC. Not winning.

If Newt hasn’t said anything then I don’t believe it. I doubt he would let the media make any announcements for him.

I will only believe it if Newt says it’s so.

The romney camp tried this before, remember? When Newt had scheduled a press conference in Nevada? They called local Nevada TV stations saying Newt getting ready to bow out...

And instead, Newt used the increased media interest to get more coverage for his news conference...

When Newt's campaign says it, believe it..

This is probably because Newt is moving up in DE... and they're scared... they never killed Newt off in FL though they tried...

Will Mitt get's slaughtered politically our Republic will breath a sigh of relief. Mitt would only help the spread of evil Statism and make the end game much worse.

Had conservatives rallied around the admittedly imperfect Santorum, we would have had a shot at stopping Romney. Newt and his ego cost us Ohio and Michigan which would have given Santorum the momentum to at least force a brokered convention.

How Newt, a man who was being ridiculed routinely at FR for his betrayal of conservatism just a year ago, got elevated to the great conservative hope is beyond me. Allowing himself to be blackmailed during the clinton impeachment, shutting down investigations into other clinton crimes, Global warming ads with Pelosi, serial cheating on multiple wives, calling Ryan’s plan “right wing engineering”, and endorsing Dede Scuzzyfavor vastly outweighed Santorum’s Toomey betrayal and pork projects.

Newt’s ultimate downfall came when he pulled a Rick Perry and called those wanting to enforce immigration law on longtime illegals “inhumane”. That even got multiple “FUNG” from the boss himself and was the start his falling poll numbers.

He even helped Mittens look conservative by attacking him for being “too tough” on immigration and he sounded like a OWS member on Bain capital. Sure, he could win his home state and 1 neighbor, but only Santorum showed he could win nationwide.

Had Newt continued to “realistically” compete, Santorum supporters would have held their noses and rallied to his side-ANYTHING to stop Mittens. Sadly, many (not all) Newt supporters tended to be more “Its my ball and I’m taking it home!” types. Many had a rivalry with Santorum supporters that was so intense that their hatred of Santorum became bigger than that of Mittens and Obama.

Some have gone so far off the deep end that they are openly posting that they will vote for Obama. The sad thing is these “vote for Obama” types seem to be able to post without fear and without too much flamage. Sadly those of us who supported Santorum (or are wondering what to do when its Romney vs Obama) are the ones who worry about banning and flames.

If you disagree with my points, fine. Say so. But I hope my 14 years here allow me to post these honest feelings and beliefs without “complications”. Things have been a little crazy lately and I can tell you there are many long timers who worry what their posted opinions can result in...

The voting isn't over. More dirty tricks from the GOP-E is more like it.

Romney has a lot to be afraid of. Nothing is locked up. He couldn't even get super-delegates to pledge to him.

But it is interesting to make a list of old-time freepers that are pro-Romney. I've lost respect for some folks that I had assumed were conservatives.

Talk about BAGGAGE!

The Daily Caller reports a huge 200-page research document has hit the internet, and it reveals Mitt Romney utterly and damningly for the flip-flopping opportunistic liberal that he is.

The paper was compiled during the 2008 presidential race and is believed to be from the McCain campaign (not the most conservative source itself). Among some of the interesting tidbits that blow a hole in his claims about being pro-life, pro-marriage, and generally conservative:

ABORTION

• Romney says he changed his mind on abortion meeting with Harvard stem cell researcher - Romney claims the doctor said scientists “kill” embryos after 14 days, but doctor later said Romney “mischaracterized my position.”
• Months after his “conversion,” Romney stated his commitment to upholding Massachusetts’ abortion laws and appointed pro-choice judge to state district court.
• In October 2005, Romney signed bill expanding family planning services, including abortion counseling and morning-after pill.
• In December 2005, Romney “abruptly ordered his administration to reverse course . . . and require Catholic hospitals to provide emergency contraception medication to rape victims.”
• Romney health insurance plan expanded access to abortion, required Planned Parenthood representative on state panel.
• Romney endorsed legalization of abortion pill RU-486 access during his 1994 Senate race and backed federal funding of abortion, saying “I think it’s important that people see me not as a pro-life candidate.”
• In 1994 and 2002, Romney confirmed his support for Roe v. Wade decision and forcefully positioned himself as pro-choice in 1994 Senate race, saying “you will not see me wavering on that.”
• Romney has refused to comment on bill pending in South Carolina legislature requiring that abortion doctors offer pregnant women option of viewing ultrasound.

GAY RIGHTS

• Romney endorsed Rep. Barney Frank’s Employment Nondiscrimination Act in 1994.
• In 1994, Romney called “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy first step toward having gays and lesbians “able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military” and said he would provide “more effective leadership” on gay rights issues than Ted Kennedy.
• In 2003, Washington Times reported Romney “would support a Vermont-style civil union law in Massachusetts.”
• As governor, Romney said health coverage benefits and hospital visitation rights should be provided to gay couples.
• Romney promised to make gay partnership benefits a “hallmark of my leadership as governor” and has said he would attend gay weddings if invited.
• Romney publicly opposed Boy Scouts’ ban on homosexuals in 1994 and 2002 campaigns.
• In 2002, Romney backed hate crimes legislation that included sexual orientation provisions.
• In 2007, Romney praised gay parent who confronted him over gay marriage issue, but in 2005 remarked to South Carolina audience that some gay couples “are actually having children” and called it “wrong.”

GUN CONTROL

• In 1994 Senate race, Romney backed Brady bill and assault weapons ban, saying “I don’t line up with the NRA” and “that’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA.”
• Romney called Clinton crime bill “a big step forward.”
• As governor, Romney quadrupled gun licensing fees and vowed not to “chip away” at tough gun laws
• In 2004, Romney signed permanent state-level ban on assault weapons that was mirrored after federal assault weapons ban. • In January 2006, Romney said he owned a gun - then two days later admitted he did not and the gun belonged to his son.
• Romney bragged about being member of the NRA but later revealed he didn’t join until August 2006, just before launching his presidential campaign.
• Romney recently said he’s “been a hunter pretty much all my life” but later admitted he hunted only twice in his life, later clarifying remarks by claiming he has hunted “small varmints . . . more than two times.”
• In 2006 press conference, Romney claimed he had been hunting “many times” after returning from quail hunt in Georgia.

The paper also goes on to provide much greater details about these facts also. You should be sure to read the whole thing.

If Republicans allow themselves to be duped into believing Mitt “RomneyCare” Romney is a real Republican (much less a real conservative), they will be sorely disappointed if given a chance to find the truth once he’s in the White House.

If Republicans allow the “mainstream” media and RINO elites to scare them into settling for this poor excuse for a Republican, they are going to kick themselves later. With Americans having gotten a clear look at liberalism under Barack Obama and his Democrat Congress, there will never be a better time to elect a real Republican, a conservative who understands how America was designed to operate. With the damage done by liberals to our great nation, there has never been a time when we have more desperately needed a conservative who knows what makes this country tick . . . not one who will only reduce - but not stop - the level of liberal poison being injected into our society.

The truth is, Romney almost certainly will not get a chance to show his true face. Enough Republicans already understand that he’s nothing but a liberal with an “R” after his name, which means that even if people allow the “mainstream” media and the GOP establishment to fool them into supporting him in the primary, there will not be enough support from Republicans who know the truth to push him over the top in the general election. Principled Republicans will not vote for a fraud like Romney, and when “independents” are given a choice between a liberal with an “R” after his name and a liberal who proudly embraces the liberal Democrat Party, they’ll go for the genuine article every time.

Neither Santorum nor Gingrich is conservative. Conservative candidates I’m this primary were in short supply. The fee that were in the race were forced out or received no support from the party. Romney’s nomination was pre-ordained from the beginning. We had so few choices and the ones we had were systematically eliminated.

We talk about the Dems and their manipulations. The Dems have nothing in the corruption practiced by the Republican party. The primaries have been a sham.
