Found her name: Ludmya Bourdeau Love. I don’t know if “Bourdeau” is her middle name or maiden name.

I endorsed her in the primary, if only because she seemed capable enough as a Mayor and would instantly become a national figure (nothing against Wimmer). Apparently the convention-goers agreed, as that was a pretty spectacular win. Also, it didn’t help that Attorney-General Shurtleff made some comments in his speech supporting Wimmer not to vote for a “novelty” (Love). That alone outraged the crowd.

Anyway, Matheson will have his hands full in the general, and if she pulls it off, Allen West will have his first solid reinforcement. Building a solid and respectable Black GOP caucus will go a long way in beginning to break through the psychological barrier that remains with Black voters. I’m not expecting us to get to a majority anytime soon, but if seeing more and more Blacks holding office as Republicans causes minds and hearts to be changed, getting to 25% or 30% of their vote will have enormous ramifications.

This is excellent news and I think that Mia Love has great potential. As much as I dislike Romney, he will help her candidacy. In fact, if she wins and Republicans make gains in the House (not impossible), she could become a real leader.

Just 25% of the black vote would give the GOP a permanent lock on the presidency, House and Senate, plus most governorships and state legislators.

Thanks for the ping. Mia Love will be great in Congress. I have friends and family in Saratoga Springs and they rave about her. I think Matheson is in for the fight of his political life.

What do you think about Orrin Hatch’s primary with Dan Liljenquist?

Woo hoo. It is time for Hatch to step down. I like Dan Liljenquist. He has a business background with a lot of experience on pension reform. He is also 38 years old, he was 2 years old when Hatch won his first election in 1976.

Hatch blew it when he said that we all should vote for him because he was next in line for the head of the Senate Financial Committee. Well, Mike Crapo, senator from Idaho is next in line if Hatch loses. Crapo is very conservative and would be a great leader of the finance committee.

I think Hatch has been a great mover of getting judges in, but I think on many issues, he has reached across the aisle too many times. It is time for him to retire and/or get voted out in the primary. That said, I will vote for Hatch in the general election if he survives the primary. I am working and voting for Liljenquist.

Is Tim Scott a disappointment? I haven't heard much about him since his election.

No, didn’t mean to imply that. Congressman Scott’s voting record has apparently been excellent. What I was saying is that since Scott chose not to join the CBC, Mia Love WANTS to join it so she can take on the race hustlers and assorted pimps, hence providing Col. West with his first solid reinforcement (as he is its lone GOP member).
