It looks like the baseball show tonight and a great lineup.

Do not miss Fred Allen's The Brooklyn Pinafore...”That's why I'm an umpire in the National League.”

And we have a Lux Theater!

First show is from 1963. Didn’t know they were still doing radio dramas that recently.

Hi Gina, with your help I'm healing. I'll say though, all over the Internet they say that PI does not spread. That it only appears where the oil from the plant touched. No way. This stuff spread. Thank God you helped.

Anyway, how you are?

Yes, I’ve seen it seem to spread, too, when I’ve had it.

We’re doing fine here. No news is good news! :-)

Radio shows continued beyond the 1960s, though television eclipsed them. See this link for searching radio shows by date: Radio Gold Index

Hi, Doc! It’s good to see you.

Having a late, cold, wet snap? We had a “cold” front move through here, and now it’s mild and very windy. The wind is irritating.

I’ve had poison ivy different times. IMO it spreads. I dread the thought of it. Glad it’s clearing up! I added Gina’s info to my favorites list last week.

Just got a decent bid from a landscaper to finish off the job that gave me the PI. $250 to get the weeds out of 50’ of fence line...$95 to fix a leaning fence post with a 2x4...and $450 to put down mesh and stone underneath a small deck. What do you think?

Vision, that weeding bid seems a tad steep, but without seeing your fence line I could not say for sure. I guess the leaning fence bid is okay—”carpenters” can charge a wide range of rates.

As for putting mesh and stone under a deck, why do you need to do all that? Is there a real problem with weeds coming up? If there is no light that gets under there, you should be able to control weeds with Roundup (mix the concentrate stronger than the label says). On that bid, I would say it’s kinda high, but I suppose that depends on the size of the deck and the price/amount of the materials.

I’m sure the Iron Lady received the Hollywood Left’s typical smear treatment of Mrs. Thatcher. I read a few negative things about it from conservative writers.

Glad you got some rain you needed! I love rain.

I'm guessing you're talking about river rocks or some kind of small rocks or attractive gravel. I can tell you that you can save money by not putting down landscape fabric--or mesh--underneath the rocks. Ultimately landscape fabric is a waste of money, because weeds will still come up (birds drop seeds, wind blows seeds on top) eventually, and in the end, the landscape plastic/fabric becomes "trash" in your yard after it decays and breaks down.

Rocks are fine, and you can control the weeds with Roundup in a sprayer or just manual weeding, if you stay on top of it. "No maintenance" landscaping does not exist.

When I was a lad I could not see
A hand held up in front of me
In spite of how I’d squint and peer
I couldn’t tell my father from my mother dear
My eyes were oh so very, very weak
That now I am an umpire in the National League
His eyes were oh so very, very weak
That now he is an umpire in the National League
As an umpire I gained great fame
I called a player out who wasn’t in the game
Another decision which you may have heard
I’m the guy who made ******* stay on third
My life is a failure, I’m up the creek
That’s why I am an umpire in the National League
His life is a failure, he’s up the creek
That’s why he is an umpire in the National League

Hey. Been down in bed for three days with a cold so bad, I feel like an alien's going to burst through my chest at any moment. I'd give anything just to have a case of the sniffles right now - been sleeping 18 hours at a stretch, and that's out of character for me. I see where there's going to be a quantity of the white stuff falling in the hills up there for the next 24 hours. Where was it four months ago, eh?

They're calling for 3"-5" in Allegany County, and as much as 12" in the higher elevations west of Frostburg, including The Wisp. Snowshoe, WV may even top that. If you're into skiing (and I'm not), you're getting a late Christmas gift up that way.

Thanks, all. We just went through all the rain and some terrible storms last night. The wind had been brutal today, though, and I hope I feel like going outside to survey the damage tomorrow (the missus is in Charlotte NC for a few days, so I'm flying solo). This weather is more fall-like than spring-like.
