Ever seen the movie “The Cooler”?

I watched some of it last night. I hadn’t seen it in a while and recorded it when I saw it was playing.

William H Macy plays a loser (of course) who is employed by a casino because he can, just by his presence, bring bad luck to players on a hot streak. (Hence, he is “the cooler.”)

Alec Baldwin plays the casino boss who sets him up with a waitress, only to find out that when in love, he actually has good luck.

Yesterday, we got the same inch of snow SDave got. Melted when the rain came. It’s cold out, but no more snow. We missed the lake effect stuff that was coming. Today, it’s stopped raining for now.

one of my friends emailed me this AM asking if xsboy enjoyed the 18 inches of snow he got. i said i really don’t think he got much more than a dusting from what he said. I don’t watch national or even local news [actually we did watch a bit of local news after the game on Sat aft since it was on broadcast NBC and it was pretty appalling to see how amateurish it looked] so i don’t know what they were saying, but my friend maintains they said 18 inches.

I'm not suggesting that you adopt anyone, because i sure as heck won't. But this is hilarious and very apt:

So much talent going to waste in Dale Hunter's system. And if you adopt Alexander Semin, he'll just lounge around on the front porch, licking his privates. But Roman Hamrlik gave the Canadiens stalwart service, so we'll give the Caps an AI of 2 and hope they last at least one more round because that would mean they've eliminated the ... You would think “Hamrlik” would be the one licking his privates.

i’ve got him sitting here looking at me right now. Hamrlik is Mr April along with his minpin on my Caps and their dogs calendar.

I’m guessing a “minpin” is a miniature doberman pinscher?

Yes that is a win for sure! I’ve already mowed several times this season. On the up side my garden is thriving and I’ve got beautiful flowers in the front flowerbeds

There’s something incongruous about seeing hockey players on a beach.

I saw a reference to Buffalo getting significant snow, we in the southern tier generally miss the lake effect snow. my weather more closely resembles Soother’s. I didn’t think Syracuse was expecting it. When they say “western” NY they mean Buffalo, possibly Rochester.

I think Rochester got some significant snow.

This wasn’t lake effect. There was more snow the farther east you went here (higher elevations). This was moisture coming up the east coast from the south crashing into cold air from the north.

that is just too depressing. I am not watching the weather so much as enjoying every nice day that comes my way. A bit breezy today, but nice dry walking weather. The clouds look dark, grey an ominous. I better go for another walk while I can.
