The United States Department of Agriculture confirmed Tuesday that it found a case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in a dairy cow from central California.

The infected cow was found as part of a "targeted surveillance system," says John Clifford, the USDA's chief veterinary officer. This is the nation's fourth confirmed case of the ailment commonly known as mad cow disease.

"The animal was never presented for slaughter for human consumption, so it at no time presented a risk to the food supply or human health. Additionally, milk does not transmit BSE," Clifford added.

The animal tested positive for atypical BSE, a very rare form of the disease not generally associated with an animal consuming infected feed.

The infected cow was found as part of a "targeted surveillance system,"

Ok, so they knew it was there but did nothing. Do they know where and how it got the disease and what are they doing to prevent the spread? How many others are on this "targeted surveillance system" that they're not telling us about?

"The animal was never presented for slaughter for human consumption, so it at no time presented a risk to the food supply or human health

Well, seems like that government program was a MAJOR FAIL since it did transfer to a human. So, can we "assume" this was the farmer or a surveillance worker who got the disease or who was it? How did the person get it? If they didn't eat it, then how was the disease transferred? From manure? From touch? Has it turned airborne?

The cow had the disease, not a human.

The disease wasn't passed to a human. It was found in the cow.

The infected cow was found as part of a "targeted surveillance system,"

NOW you know why ODrama is using drones in the skies.... protection against the Mad Cow malady. Would I lie?

My understanding is that in order to get the disease from cows involves eating portions the spine and brain that contain certain prions associated with the disease.

Anybody know if that is correct?

It didn’t transfer to a human. In fact the disease has NEVER transferred to a human. Like all the cannibalistic diseases it doesn’t jump species.

I suspect this is all part of the progressives’ plan to collapse agriculture. Start rumors about food safety would seem to be Step 2. (Step 1 involves the Obamacare intrusions into agriculture.)

or meat products contaminated by infected spine and brain.

"Bovine spongiform encephalopathy caused variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, most probably through adulteration of cooked meat products with mechanically recovered meat contaminated by compressed spinal cord and paraspinal ganglia

Well, seems like that government program was a MAJOR FAIL since it did transfer to a human.

How in He** did you come up with that? Where is the clue in this article that it "transferred" to a human. Is there a secret code?

"The animal was never presented for slaughter for human consumption, so it at no time presented a risk to the food supply or human health

Where does it say that it transferred to a human? I've read it over several times and can't find that tid-bit.
