Moyer was breathless about everything! Especially STORM WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
The guy assaulted a police officer.
That is hilarious.
I lived in California for many years, and the live high speed chases were (and still are, apparently) a staple of Southern California television, especially when you consider there are at least six L.A. TV stations with news departments and helicopters, all competing for viewers and ratings.
I live in Maine now, and back in the late spring of 2006, my (now) late father and I drove to a VIP store in Bangor, Maine to buy new tires for my father’s vehicle. I noticed a crowd gathered around a TV set in the waiting room, and when I went to join them, I was surprised to see a high speed chase on an L.A. freeway. I explained to everyone that this is a common occurence in southern California. I sure didn’t expect to see a live L.A. freeway police chase on a TV in Maine.
In 1991 I lived in the Santa Ynez Valley, in Santa Barbara County. One day I turned on the TV, and the California Highway Patrol was chasing a stolen red vehicle which looked similar to a Volkswagen rabbit. When the vehicle eventually stopped on the shoulder of the freeway, the armed suspect was fired upon by the CHP officer. All the windows of the vehicle were shot out, and the suspect was killed. All on live TV.
I remember when they had that tank chase. They opened up the lid and killed the guy right then and there. Turns out he stole that tank out of the armory in the town I lived in at the time.
I remember that tank chase, too! I think it was in San Diego. The guy stole a tank, side-swiped parked cars, ran over and flattened other parked cars, and then either got stuck or broke down or whatever. They showed the police lifting the lid and opening fire inside.....all on live television.
I lived in Brentwood for 18 years. I miss the city!!!! I was working in the valley during the OJ “chase” and it was hell getting home that night and the week following. Sunset was closed off and every lookyloo in LA was in Brentwood.
The tank got stuck on the k rail on the freeway and lost its track. I remember if you saw it live you saw them kill the guy, after that they didn’t show it. I my opinion if he had wanted to kill people he had many chances.
Oh well he did decide to do it and his death was the outcome, his choice.
Two days before the Nicole Simpson murder, I had a date with a guy in Brentwood. When it happened it was so weird that I had just been blocks away from her home.
I also lived in Brentwood myself a decade earlier. As a UCLA student - on Kiowa. Then I moved to Switzerland, and one day my boss there told me he owned a condo building in Los Angeles, where I was from, and he told me the address. It was on Kiowa! Literally across the street from my college days apartment! Small world.
