After seeing how Hollywood loves to rewrite things like vampires no longer being affected by Crucifixes, Star Trek “where no ONE has gone before”, and how Superman is no longer about the “American way”, its nice to see Captain America still wearing the red white and blue.
The director probably thought it was about 0bama.

Truthfully, I think they were right to make Superman less American in character. But they were wrong in trying to internationalize him.
The bottom line is that he is an incredibly powerful alien being, who by dint of being an orphan raised by humans, thinks he belongs with us. He doesn’t. The best thing he can do to thank us for raising him would be to protect us from equally alien threats far beyond our ability to stop.
He cannot belong to our social contract, nor can he engage us in any practical way. If he stops a thief, and “turns him over to the police”, they almost certainly have to let him go, unless he has an outstanding warrant unrelated to his current crime.
Legally, he is the same as a wild animal.
I’m shocked since Cap was dissing the Tea Party not that long ago.
Just got Captain America and The Avengers from our library. Gonna watch them this weekend.
Seems like a Captain America line too... old fashioned American hero.

I had fun in that movie. A little slow getting started but it was good. Of course, we knew how it was going to end because of the Avengers movie. It might’ve been nice to have a couple good WWII flicks first. Wasn’t in the cards.

Of course, since I haven’t picked up an Avengers in years, I looked into the current incarnation of the Black Widow (which the movie version is NOT based on), now she’s an incestual lesbian whore. And you know, comics use to be for kids. What the hell happened?
My 21 year old son (in June)and I are going to the midnight opening in about five hours from now. I’m 56 years old and I’m supposed to survive this. Mommas don’t have your children late in life.
