They are having fun, they are happy, their marriage will probably last ten times longer than most country-club weddings. Don’t knock them.
I attended a relative's wedding a few years back that still has me scratching my head. My family and I were treated like gate-crashers; we decided later that the "other side" thought we were too redneck for them. Yet they more than amply demonstrated that money cannot buy class. The only friendly, welcoming people there were the catering staff.
I'd prefer to go to a mud-bogging wedding any time, if it means being treated as a welcomed guest.
Yep. I’ve been to a few weddings in my day, family, friends, my own... Without exception the funnest, most memorable have been those that tended towards the more casual. Focus on the sacrament, then just have some laughs. The ones that tended towards the more pretentious and upscale...way too up tight.
I've seen lots of friends, family and acquaintances get married over the years. One thing I observed, the more they spend on the wedding the sooner they are going to get divorced.
dunno about “their marriage will probably last ten times longer” — it may, but the main thing as you point out is that they had fun and are happy. The wedding day is about God joining man and woman. That’s all that matters. God bless this couple
