New Link From Supernova to Life on Earth?
54°40’ Or Fight! ^ | May 2, 2012 | Devon Watkins

Through the Royal Astronomical Society in London the Danish scientist Henrik Svensmark released new scientific evidence in the last week that has not yet hit the mass media. This new examination could revolutionize the way that we view our world’s climate and even the history of life on Earth. Professor Svensmark examined the history of how supernova’s close to our solar system occurred over the last 500 million years. He compared this supernova history to our well known history of the number of different species on Earth over that same time period and found a remarkable correlation.

It is interesting, but correlation does not equal causation.

Wow, you just can’t make this stuff up ... or maybe you can.

The meat of the article involves further confirmation that the cosmic ray level affects cloud formation, which affects the amount of sunlight that gets reflected away, which effects Earth's temperature.

It turns out that the solar magnetic field (which shields Earth from cosmic rays) may have a lot more to do with our climate than man-made CO2.

Whatever it takes to get God out of the picture.

First, IMHO, GOD is not in the picture, he is the picture.

That GOD has the different wavelengths of energy created by Supernovas affecting the makeup of the life forms on Earth which thrive on energy of all types, shows that GOD knows more about creating life than we do.

In regard to scientists, most of them see something like this as another 'wonder' of GOD. The media ignores them, and publishes only the views of the hardcore atheists, because it sells laundry detergent.

Gee and all this time I thought God created the Earth in 7 days. Silly me.

Which it doesn’t.

Who created the stars that go nova?

I personally see no reason why God is prohibited from creating a universe that then runs according to His rules and produces results that even He might not have anticipated. This includes, IMO, the possibility of his using evolution as one of his tools for generating diversity in the biological world.

I think of it as the physical equivalent of free will in intelligent beings.

The thing that protects us from the Sun, is made by the Sun. We live in the 'flame' of the Sun, not 'outside' it, and the Solar/Mag field is the only thing that keeps our planet from looking like Mars, or possibly a roasted marshmellow.

The real problem we have, which Global Warming Alarmists ignore, is that the Magnetic Field of Earth is getting weaker.

Yeah, but even the angels warned GOD that the 'free will' thing could get way out of hand.

Everything is just 'made up'. Some of it, after repeated tests turns out to be true. Much of our speculation about the workings of the cosmos cannot be tested, and with the complexity of GOD'S Universe, no one answer is 'the answer'.

Earthquakes, for instance, are caused by a multitude of factors, both from the planet itself and from the rest of our solar system.

Which is sort of the point.

If God made creatures with free will, it’s because he didn’t want automatons. He wanted friends, not toys or machines.

Well... how did that work out?

Gee and all this time I thought God created the Earth in 7 days.

Back before the 'heavens and the Earth', a day had a 'different' meaning. But... we have free will and choose to ignore the obvious. Like the Lost Tribe of Israel walking round the same mountain in the desert for twenty years.

IOW, everything we thought we knew about this is probably wrong. Until the next revolutionary discovery comes along. Then this will be wrong, etc., etc..

One is that cosmic rays, like all ionizing radiation, can cause mutations when it or more likely a gamma ray it causes hits DNA and messes it up.

"Professor Svensmark examined the history of how supernova’s close to our solar system occurred..."

Damn, I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but writers just lose me when they abuse apostrophes like that.
