On the dust jacket of his new book, "The Tyranny of Clichés: How Liberals Cheat in the War of Ideas," best-selling conservative author and commentator Jonah Goldberg is described as having "twice been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize."
In fact, as Goldberg acknowledged on Tuesday, he has never been a Pulitzer nominee, but is merely one of thousands of entrants.

Search for PP winners and nominees...
I’m guessing the publishing company wrote the blurb on the book jacket. It’s possible he told them he had applied, and they just conflated that to being nominated.
Conservatives can’t play games for two main reasons.
One, we can’t lie and make things up, or even lie using the tricks that make a lie, yet don’t,lies of omission meant to create false realities and so on, those are things from the other side.
Two, he is a conservative! Did he think that he wouldn’t be given the microscope treatment?
From the article: “An entry form and $50
It’s not uncommon for Pulitzer entrants to claim to be nominees. Here’s how it works: Though there are only three nominees, known as nominated finalists, in each Pulitzer category each year, there are more than 2,000 entrants. One could say that all of them were “nominated” by someone. If all Pulitzer entrants could be called nominees, any publisher could give all its authors that honorific by submitting an entry form and a check for $50.”
This will probably turn out to be an MSNBC blowup against a conservative, but we have to assume that he looked at one of his book covers at some point.
I can virtually guarantee that this is what happened. Authors never write cover or jacket blurbs; they usually don't even see them until the book is published. Complaining about the author because one of the promotional blurbs on the book cover is inaccurate is completely disingenuous.
I had to stop watching the recent video of Goldberg debating with Piers Morgan. It wasn't that Morgan was good -- his one trick is relentlessly interrupting his guests -- but that Goldberg was terrible. He seemed slow-witted, blowing chance after chance to make his points. A decent debater could have eaten Morgan alive.
Goldberg seems to see himself as Mr. Conservatism, ready to speak on behalf of all conservatives. Unless he can up his game, better he should speak just for himself.
Piers Morgan. Useful idiot of the left. Shameless...in that interview he won’t even let JG finish a sentence...at least Larry King was more *polite.*
JG never was a great thinker on his feet, IMHO.
It is easy to see where the publisher would get the information, since the same claim was made on Goldberg's bio page on National Review Online. The link goes to a Google cache of the NRO page before it was corrected. Here is how that page starts:
Jonah Goldberg was the founding editor of National Review Online and is currently editor-at-large of NRO. He is a Pulitzer-nominated columnist for The Los Angeles Times.
He must have seen and approved that page. He probably wrote the text himself.
Jonah grew up in DC and learned the trade while on the job under the wing and guidance of his mother, Lucianne/Lucy Ann.
just a pup.
He has since made his own way and successfully invented the public persona that financially supports himself.
Goldberg is hardly slow-witted. If the interrogator keeps interrupting you and preventing you from discussing what you came to the program to discuss, the issue of debating or not debating something irrelevant to the discussion does not apply. Have you ever read his columns or heard him on the Foxx all-stars? Slow-witted and Jonah Goldberg are mutually exclusive. I’ve never heard him personally claim that he’s been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize...which he might not want to accept anyway.
Dedman received the 1989 Pulitzer Prize in investigative reporting for “The Color of Money,” articles in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on racial discrimination by mortgage lenders in middle-income neighborhoods.
Note: anything on MSNBC should be adjusted by a huge discount figure. MSNBC = Pure leftist dribble
The only consolation is that any Conservative message sticks in the craw of the LIEberals. Any opportunity to *Breitbart* their counterattacks is worth pursuing. If we think this is bad....just wait. :(
Yes. “Just Wait” ?
Remember, November is coming.
If CBS’ Sheryl Atkisson does NOT get a Pulitzer for her ‘Fast and Furious’ reportage, they should abolish the award.
The Nobel Prizes, the Academy Awards, etc, etc, are no longer symbols for excellence but for towing the socialist line... it
You are *absolutely* correct!!! Excellent POV.
Everything that was once considered to have esteem in achieving it has been stained by the LIEberals.
