The hockey season should be over before the river breaks up.

Here in south central PA, I don’t believe the Susquehanna River froze over all year.

But as far as I’m concerned, my Penguins season ended way too soon.

Another great series in the East. Question is, will Phoenix or the Kings be able to take the going of a 7 game?

Actually, I was wondering if the Rangers were up to a third chance at a Game 7, after taking Ottawa and Washington the distance.

I agree with you, they seem to have all the ingredients to make a run. The fact that they've never won before would make it even better. Since my Red Wings were a MAJOR disappointment (again), I am rooting for the Kings to go all the way.

The ice looked pretty bad at the end of the Caps/Rangers game last night.

MSG must have a pretty old ice freezing system.

Honestly I’m just hoping for a NYR-LA final. Getting the two biggest cities in the US interested in hockey would be great. Knowing the NHL’s luck, it will be a PHX-NJ final (not taking anything away from those two teams, they just don’t have the media draw).

No doubt. Hockey is, IMHO, the best sport and anything that would help get people interested would be great.

Commissioner Buttman will no doubt ensure a New York-LA final. Besides, the thought of him handing the trophy to the Devils in Newark after his screw job of them for the Kovalchuk deal must keep him up at night. He’s the worst thing to happen to the game since....ever.

Kings, Yotes, whichever, I'll be rooting for either one to beat the team that beat the team that beat my Wings and then go on to take The Cup.

p.s. The Wings and the Pens were pretty puny in the Finals.

Go Coyotes! I love seeing Jobing filled with Yotes fans. I will cheer for either western conference team in the final and cheering for New Jersey over the Rangers. I’m glad the Flyers and Caps lost.

That 2009 Stanley Cup win (loss for you) just gave Wings fans incredible butthurt. Thanks for reminding me what a great time that was!

Couldn’t care less about hockey, but just want to know if players are using PINK sticks tonight...just watched home run phenom Josh Hamilton strike out for the second time with his precious little pink bat.

Is this another stupid awareness raising for breast cancer? Sports team seem to do this at the beginnings of seasons. Hockey does it in November. I haven’t seen any sports league do it during playoffs.

Pink hockey stick, why not? Country boy Bubba Watson won the Masters with a pink driver too but baseball and golf are candy-ass sports. It would take a real bad-ass to pull it off in the NHL, someone like John Scott of the NY Rangers for instance.

Sure was...Hamilton finally ditched his purty pink bat and knocked in a few runs later. OTOH; Cruz hit a grand slam with his pink bat.

Can't leave the damn house without having a pink ribbon shoved in my face...if you aren't "aware" of BC by now; you're pretty much dead. Ye gads.

I didn’t see any pink equipment at all.

I did buy a “Hockey Fights Cancer” jersey a while back, but that was purple.

I'm not quite sure what you said ... but I LIKE it!

It'll be interesting to see if the Wings make some much needed changes during the off-season or "stay pat" as they've been doing since they lost Hossa.

Now that I read it again, I don't know what I said either. Basically, I root for all the teams up the chain of winners from the Preds win over the Wings to the West Champ.

As for Hossa, when he jumped from the Pens’ to the Wings, the Pens took the Cup from us. It was a bad one year multi-mil cash deal IMO.

The Wings are long in the tooth and need some bushy tailed young players, especially aggressive shooters.

Well the NJD are in the same TV market as the Rangers, and with both LA hoops teams gone, this will still be good for the sport. I was hoping for Rangers Kings too but this ain't bad.

The Devilsin 6 would be fine, but I hope Marty doesn't retire any time soon. He's the tender the Hurricanes can beat the easiest (for some strange reason we have his number).

I've witnessed in person what might be his two lowest moments (Staal with 3 seconds to go in 2006 and Jokinin at the buzzer in 2009, both in Raleigh).

He turned 40 a couple weeks ago. Now he’s said in the recent past he’s thinking of doing a couple more seasons, but at 40 years old if they win the Cup I think the temptation to go out winning his last game will be too great. Better to go out like Elway than Jordan.

Oh I totally agree from Brodeur's standpoint. It would be fitting indeed.

I was just shamelessly using the topic of his win last night to bring up the fact that the Carolina Hurricane's have his number in the playoffs - and that I've been lucky enough to see two of this historic moments.

It is funny how teams get a guy’s number. Certain bad teams will score on certain all star goaltenders at will. Things like that make sports fun.

It is funny how match ups can go screwy. FTR though, those two Carolina teams were anything but bad teams. The 06 team won the Stanley Cup and the 09 team reached the Eastern finals.

Yeah NJD will work, likely the LA angle will be more important ratings-wise as for some reason, the Devils don’t have the NYC clout that the Rangers do, despite being a much better franchise for the past 20+ years.

And if the Kings win, wow, what a story that would be. Should be a fun series since I have no dogs in the fight.

Worse than the Jokinen goal in 2009 was the final 90 seconds of Game 7 that year ... when he gave up two of the softest goals you’ll ever see to give Carolina a 4-3 series win. I watched that one myself. The worst part about it was that I could see it unfolding over the course of the final two periods. Ugh.
