Panetta: Gay ban repeal has not hurt morale

WASHINGTON – Military leaders have concluded that last year's repeal of the ban on gays serving openly in uniform has not affected morale or readiness so far, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Thursday. "My view is that the military has kind of moved beyond it. It's become part and parcel of what they've accepted within the military,"

There is no comfort in hearing that, “military leaders have studied the effects of last year’s repeal of don’t ask, don’t tell” (DATD), and on Thursday reported that such concerns so far have been unfounded”. These are the same people who brought us the fraudulent study last year that provided shelter for a Congress already committed to homosexuals serving openly in the military.

Politicians supporting repeal of DADT relied for cover on the Department of Defense (DOD) deceptive proclamation that 70% of service members saw positive or no effect for repealing DADT. The poll was conducted after Congressional Representatives had voted for repeal of DADT. Therefore, under the compelling logic that nobody really cared, only 29% of those selected responded by completing half or more of the questions. DOD contacted equal numbers of reserve and active troops and spouses, but only 20% to 30% of those whose family member’s military specialty could place them in harm’s way. Also, nearly one third had never deployed. Supposedly all these responses provided valid information, even though people in base housing, civilian neighborhoods, and CONUS bureaucracies never experience firefights and IED’s.

The entire military exists to serve Marine and Army combat infantrymen and their associates in Special Forces. DOD accomplishes nothing of lasting significance until these people walk the ground formerly held by an enemy, and well over half of those trigger-pullers responding had opposed repeal. Only they understand the unimaginable totalitarian leadership and obedience demanded within their chaotic, barbaric, and brittle environments.

I have heard objections in terms of having to shower with homosexuals, but the problem really begins when showers, hot food, and regular sleep fade into memory to be replaced by exhaustion, brutality, turmoil, and trauma. The leadership and discipline of a sub-culture that enables victory, or at least survival in those environments, cannot be turned on and off. It must continually penetrate throughout the military services. A mental disorder involving sexuality when thrust into the midst of that totalitarian structure warps the relationships that must be maintained.

Military service deals with the issues of race and sex amid the consequent extraordinary restrictions of Constitutional freedoms unknown to the civilian world. Therefore, a history of disinformation accompanied unqualified acceptance for homosexual behavior without restriction. That objective in turn relied for vindication on the 1973 American Psychiatric Association (APA) decision to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual.

Removal followed two years Newsweek described as ongoing disruptive, chaotic attacks on psychiatrists and physiologists. Yet throughout this campaign, no academic papers arose at conferences refuting any previous research. Eventually sufficient under-votes and abstentions enabled a third of APA’s 17,000 plus membership to approve removal.

Next activists established a committee targeting leading researchers such as Dr. David Reuben, and Masters and Johnson to ensure perpetual sanctity for APA actions. No research papers would again confirm initial therapy success rates of 30% to 60 %, substantiating 7 of 10 homosexuals could eventually walk away from the lifestyle. Persistent activism over 37 years enabled ubiquitous infiltration of academia ensuring pre-ordained theses, approved research designs, suitable human data points, and enchanting statistical enhancements. The result has been social alchemy.

Psychology and psychiatry abandoned scientific rigor for popular acclaim. With homosexual studies freed from objective analysis, DADT repeal advocates relied upon base antidotal, emotional politics to dominate discrimination concerns. Advocates were free to avoid the realities of military operations characterized by sacrificial, primitive and intimate relations. Psychology and psychiatry were unwilling to demand a rigorous discussion of whether any mental disorders could be tolerated within the exceptional human structures needed to defeat enemies.

The Pentagon study never addressed the area of religious freedom, placing this form of discrimination for the first time among those restrictions of Constitutional guarantees inherent in military service. Previously the religious faith exception provided a critical spiritual foundation for surviving the grinding stresses and shattering experiences of warfare. Here multitudes found an anchor in eternity to discipline the emotions through spiritual control of the mind and will.

Basic theology explains why Jewish, Christian, and Muslim believers find their religious freedom evaporating with repeal. Followers of desert religions, who send their pastors into the chaplaincy and believers into military service, consider homosexual behavior unacceptable. It resides among the myriad sins entrapping fallen humanity and leads away from God.

For tens of millions “People of the Book” foundational Old Testament scholarship concludes homosexual relationships separate believers from God. When speaking of the character, identity, and purpose of God, He is spoken of as masculine, and all humans become feminine in relation to Him. Besides creating all things, God created heterosexual marriage as the earthy manifestation of the absolute unity and love He seeks with each person. Classical Semitic theology emphasizes identifying with God in spiritual intimacy, meaning any subsequent reasoning must proceed from that basic understanding.

Therefore after repeal, when believers reject homosexuality in counseling rolls and normal or extraordinary life activities, these people reside outside Constitutional boundaries guaranteeing religious freedom. They see themselves becoming guilty of at least cultural prejudice, if not criminality.

This debate veered into humanist social alchemy as a means to fabricate attachments to our Constitution and to dissemble concerning military operations. The debate never addressed the primary issues of Constitutional free speech and religious freedom, and of whether any mental disorders can be tolerated within the exceptional human structures needed to defeat our enemies. Repeal has injected into military service an infection the consequences of which cannot determined in a few months.

It's like a military officer telling you that the President said the sun is out but anyone can see the sun is not out.

There are limits of suspended belief.

There are a lot of deeply religious people in the military—especially in the officer ranks. The DADT repeal is fairly recent. But I suspect when you see things like gay couples occupying base housing and a push for Transgender soldiers, you’ll see that trickle turn into a flood. These things never go South overnight; rather its a slowly spreading infection.

American Spectator magazine did an article in the late 80’s or 90’s about gays in the military. They had statistics showing most gays were outed and booted out for molesting children of enlisted troops.

This from a candy-ass SecDef who requires all troops in a combat zone to be unarmed when he is present.

How can an NCO or Officer have the respect of anyone let alone young men when that “leader” is an open faggot. It is not possible, therefore the whole thing is ludicrous. God help us.

How does an American Secretary of Defense who orders American troops, in a war zone, to be disarmed before speaking to them now dare to speak for those troops' morale?

The Obama Regime Ministry of Truth and their liberal media party organs know no bounds in either the arrogance of their LIES, or their contempt for the intelligence of Americans.

My wife is a Japanese civilian employee working at Yokota AB. She says that everyone she meets looks tired, numb and listless. Too much work, no support, no replacements for PCS active duty staffers, GS workforce is being cut to the bone. Everyone is scared of RIFs. COLA is gone, the value of the dollar is plunging, restrictions on off-base liberty (or whatever the AF calls it) are being tightened...

Active duty servicemembers are just keeping their heads down and marking time, hoping beyond hope that Obama is voted out in November. It’s worse than Carter and the 70s.

When Obama was elected three years ago, a lot of GS types were ecstatic. No one even talks about him anymore and when they do, they look around first and talk in low voices.

Of course it hasn’t hurt morale. You can’t wet a river. Based on everything I have heard, seen or read, morale is already down so low that the DADT repeal barely registers.

It isn't like you can put in your two weeks notice and leave..........the exodus begins one by one at the end of a contract.

--

Prancing Soldiers from the sky

More or less men who soon will die

Men who lisp everything they say

The fabulous men of the Pink Beret

--

Silver earrings that look their best

These are men; America's homo fest

100 men test for AIDs today

All of them are Pink Beret

--

Trained to live in fashion land

Together they go hand-to-hand

Men who shriek night and day

Courage peak from the Pink Beret

--

[chorus]

--

Back at home his partner waits

His Pink Beret has met his fate

He has died from the AIDS virus

Leaving him his last request

---

Put silver earrings in my son's chest

Make him one of Ellen's guests

He'll be the one they test for AIDS one day

Have him wear the Pink Beret

That is true, but the services want people to leave. They are slicing and dicing the numbers big time. They don’t care about the reason people leave. They just want them to LEAVE. Navy got rid of 5 thousand last year that didn’t even want to go. They are cutting all over the place.

Oh, I know. They want to cut 25K from the USMC. The problem is a lot of the best and brightest are who is leaving......the remainder of the best and brightest have't yet realized they can't save the world and can't stop the machine.....Dagney Taggart syndrome.

Don't worry, they want females in the infantry too. The infantry will soon be nothing more than fruits and females.

The beatings will continue until morale improves.

How would Panetta know? Has he asked the same ticket punching careerist “officers” who sell out their soldiers, marines and SEALS by courtmartialing them for killing the enemy or—SEALS case—for punching them in the nose? Panetta is a politician and what can you expect? But the moral cowardice of the senior uniformed leadership breaks the heart and makes one fear for the future of a once-proud military.
