Researchers found that compared with people who did not drink coffee, men who consumed six or more cups a day where 10 per cent less likely to die during the 14 years of the study.

For women there were 15 per cent fewer deaths for those drinking six cups or more.

The findings, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, showed that there was a marginal difference for men drinking one cup per day, but two drinking two to three cups a day were 10 per cent less likely to die, those drinking four or five cups per day were 12 per cent less likely to die than non coffee drinkers.

For women there was no effect seen for one cup or less per day. Those drinking two or three cups were five per cent less likely to die compared with those who drank none at all and those drinking four or five cups were 16 per cent less likely to die.

The researchers said the effect was seen across almost all causes of death including heart disease, respiratory disease, stroke, injuries and accidents, diabetes, and infections.

Black is the only way I take my coffee. I love sugar but cannot stand it in coffee. The only way I take sugar in coffee is to dunk a doughnut or cookie. As for cream...yuck.

As for this study....what a pantload.

So what in coffee does this, the caffeine? I don’t have time to go that much with all that coffee. ;-)

Try Dunkin’ Donuts. You can make it strong enough to stand a fork in and still don’t get that burned taste.

This article needs some proofreading and editing. Perhaps too much coffee for the writer?

I drank black coffee for 40 years. Adding cream and sweetener keeps me from eating sweets. NOT going back to black.

Depending on the location (again because of the local water), I’d take McDonald’s black coffee over Starbucks any time.

(Although you have to be careful even at McDonald’s because they are using tap water. Some local tap water makes really awful coffee. Down here in South Texas, some cities have enough chlorine in their water to walk on.)

Yes, McDonalds is good if I am on the road, but the water used does matter.

If you have an Aldis nearby they have a fairly good knock-off of the DD coffee called Donut Shop Blend. IIRC it was about $5 for a 12 oz bag.

I buy a bag every now and then for a treat

9 And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.

Somebody told a little fib:

" Revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet, at Kirtland, Ohio, February 27, 1833. HC 1: 327-329. As a consequence of the early brethren using tobacco in their meetings, the Prophet was led to ponder upon the matter; consequently he inquired of the Lord concerning it. This revelation, known as the Word of Wisdom, was the result. The first three verses were originally written as an inspired introduction and description by the Prophet."

Now I need a similar result for cigarettes.

Rest assured that even if they did find similar results, they would never be published. Cigarettes are bad, don't ya know.

Margarine is better than butter
Butter is better than margarine

And olive oil is better than either

A lot of being able to drink it black has to do with the coffee itself and the water.

+ + =

Pretty sure drinking distilled water is very bad for you.
