If you haven't yet voted, you can still help choose a historical figure whose biographical portrait will be composed by Robert Weingarten, a noted photographic artist. Read about Audie Murphy, Alice Paul, Celia Cruz, Samuel Morse, and Frederick Douglass and then vote for the figure you would like to see portrayed.
The finished portrait will be unveiled this fall and displayed at the Smithsonian.

I’m amazed that Celia Cruz is winning. I had never heard of her until I clicked on that site.
Done
I’d never heard of Celia Cruz
Right now, George Zimmerman.
She was born in Cuba. I hate these PC polls.
Cruz is an interesting story. I had never heard of her. She and her family fled Communist Cuba, became US citizens and made a success of their lives in the USA. I am surprised they included her. Her life story is a rebuttal to the race baiting, victim-hood pimping doctrines of the current leadership of the US Democrat party.
ROFL!
Love your tagline, too.
I had to select Murphy.
That guy really did rise from a hard scrabbel background and if you ever do yourself the favor of reading his citation on receiving the CMO, the hair on your neck will stand up.
There are many other awards and battle field honors he won as well.
Celia Cruz has a good story...
But for her to be beating Audie Murphy is a travesty.
Freeped.
That is surprising. Thanks, MNJohnnie.
Audie Murphy is a no-brainer for a portrait. You can make an excellent case for Samuel Morse or Frederick Douglass as well. But Celia Cruz? Seriously? Winning with 2/3 of the vote?

It is amazing Murphy emerged alive.
