One passing that hit me real hard a few years back was Eric Woolfson, of the Alan Parsons Project. He was the ideas man behind so many of their great songs, and while he didn’t sing a lot, the songs he did sing on, were their best, like Silence and I, Closer to Heaven, Time, Eye in the Sky.

I just wish he and Alan could have patched things up.

In addition to YouTube, try Pandora, tell it some artists that you like, and using some newfangled computer magic, it will attempt to create for you a radio stream with those artists and others which are musically similar. You might just find some things you enjoy.

Another thing you might try is Amazon. If you’re a customer, they will (big brother) keep track of your purchases and attempt to create a ‘smart’ list of things you might like when next you visit. To enhance this, you can go through their catalog and rate some of your purchases or other things which you know you like.

For example, if you give bands like Yes, Kansas, Rush, etc 5 star ratings, they might suggest that you’d like a King Crimson album. Or maybe some Saga.

Good luck.

The Bee Gees were great... especially early Bee Gees. RIP Robin.

Look for music by Erika Chambers if you like Allison Krause.

Listen to "If Only Tears" on this album: First Glance

And "Devil Train" on this one: light At Eventide.

There are a lot of offerings of this caliber for every genre if you look for them. Some are available online, others you can only buy on CD or emailed downloads when you attend concerts.

Get out and attend live events in your area.

One of the big differences for the kids of today looking back at their youth in thirty of fourty years really is that kids in Boston won't remember that many of the same musicians as kids in Denver - even if they listen to the same genres.

Both Robin and his twin, Maurice died of problems with their intestines....coincidence?

Both happily long-term married until death, with children.

I don’t love Wikipedia, but it’s all that would come up for info on the musical Jesse Stone:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jess_Stone

And most of it is in line with what I thought I knew about him. So I think this will cause him to rise above any other Jesse Stones!!

Loved the Bee Gees — they were big in my high school late 70’s/early 80’s days ... Saturday Night Fever album was all the rage.

I saw Andy solo, performing live for President Reagan in Ford’s Theatre in 1981, and he was absolutely fantastic. I just couldn’t believe his early death from myocardial inflammation.

One of my fondest memories of Robin was his appearance on American Idol a few years ago, where he mentored young performers. He was a gentleman and an artist.

You know who amazes me that is still alive is Olivia de Havilland. She will be 96 this year. Of the 4 main stars of Gone with the Wind her character dies in the movie but she outlives almost everyone in real life even the child actor who played Bonnie Blue.

I believe it was NR, written by John Derbyshire. It was good stuff. Of course he worked I.Q. into it.

It’s one of those internet joke thingies.

Like a picture of Obiwan Kenobi with the words “Do or do not. There is no ‘try.’ —Gandalf”
