BRIGHTON, Colo. A boy with an inoperable brain tumor was sworn in as Brighton's youngest police officer on Thursday.
Jose Rubio-Pavon, 12, always wanted to be a police officer, The Denver Channel reported.

Officers Anna-Marie Cuney, Levy Slagle and Cpl. Monce Portillo swore him in during a ceremony in his hospice room and presented him with a certificate officially recognizing him as a member of the Brighton Police Department, a police uniform shirt and a junior officer badge.
The fifth grader wore a giant smile as he took the oath of office, Brighton Police said.
Donations to help the family with medical bills and living expenses can be made to the Jose Angel Rubio-Pavon Family Fund.
God bless our LEO, they are always there when we need them.
I suppose a joke about how he rose from his sickbed to shoot his neighbors yappy dog would be in poor taste.
Yes; I’m sure it would be.
I didn’t think kids wanted to be cops anymore. Refreshing and sad.
Awesome story. Glad he could experience this.
At least the kid is now a police officer, even for one day. The police officers are unsung heros.
It is nice for once to hear a great story about police officers making a dying Boy’s dream come true, GOD knows that it is always the corrupt Cops that get all the press these days.
ha! don’t worry, I thought the same thing...
Still, a very cool story.
Very cool story, indeed.
I love these stories about the good guys and compassion. Thank you.
re: the line in story about the family seeking donations for medical expenses, wouldn’t the public employee’s union pick all that up or is the government discriminating against this sworn officer? Looks like ‘the family’ should be talking to Gloria Allred or the ACLU instead. /s
His first words as officer were “Andy you have to nip in the bud! Nip it in the bud I tell you”.
