Romney vs Obama
5/24/12 | self

Posted on 05/24/2012 9:02:28 AM PDT by Jerrybob

Did you know that Romney received a dual degree from BOTH Harvard Business School and Harvard Law graduating Cum Laude? Well, it's about time that someone put an article out there describing Mitt Romney and his background. Notice a really clear difference between Romney and Obama? Here are a few:

1. Mitt doesn't have that arrogant, supercilious pose that Obama has

2. His scholastic credits are an open book...grades, friends, etc.

3. He doesn't need a tele-prompter to speak...

4. He does his speaking engagements to adults not high school groupies

5. His past friends are visible, and none are anarchists, radicals, or .....

6. He is a religious man, and attends a church which preaches humanity

7. He has an outstanding and successful background in government and business

8. He can't dance, sing, shoot baskets, or skip up the steps of aircraft

9. He successfully worked with Democrats while Governor

10. He is proud to be an American, and strongly backs Israel

You went from an ABO to a stark raving promoter of the liberal pond scum, and you think the rest of us don't make sense?

I can understand (although I don't agree with it) the philosophy of voting for Romney to avoid a second term for Obama. But, you go well beyond that, claiming he is a conservative and you like him a lot.

Now, you just want people who disagree with you to just go away.

The whole process is informative to say the least. I now better understand how the Germans evolved in 1933.

Well, A I do not hate Romney, I do not know him personally, I do know his record.
I find it very interesting that you say that you are conservative and Romney is not a liberal.
Romney is:
pro abortion
pro homosexual agenda
pro government mandates
pro man mad global warming
pro gun grab
pro big government
pro government health care
pro welfare
(and more)
Not one of those is a conservative concept.
Again, how do you reconcile that with your stated conservationism and Romney is not a liberal.
I would really like to know how you come to the conclusion you are a conservative and Romney is not a liberal.

It is Mitt Romney’s job right now to sell himself to me. I’v listed the things I look for in a candidate. All those other trappings (the list in this article) points to the Liberals’ way at looking and judging things, academic, titles, credentials, superficial stuff.

But GOP made the decision that it is the so-called ‘swing voters’ that they are targeting.

>>> We don’t want you. <<<

So sorry to disappoint you. Doesn’t matter if YOU don’t want me, I am a conservative, and that’s that.

"Look, nobody’s trying to sell you anything, especially now that you’ve ‘evolved.’ Frankly, I don’t want you on our side. You and your ilk give conservatives a bad name. You only see the dark side. You have no hope. No trust. Not saying you, but I’ve seen the most horrible Mormon bigotry on this site by people who hate Romney. So, please, please, go on your merry way. We don’t want you."

Well Said!

I have learned one thing from this election cycle and that is that there are people who at least claim to be conservative that are every bit as nutty and lacking in common sense as any liberal. Many are on this site and posting in this thread. In addition to being completely off the reservation, they, just like the libs are very prone to distorting and lets just face it, lying, to support their position. Just like the libs their fault is the belief that they are purer, smarter, and intellectually superior to us who live in real ville.

Hum? What lies in this thread? Who is off the reservation?
Lots of accusations and no facts.

There is NO antiMormon hate or threads on FR.

The problem is that the liar and incompetent Romney
when not backstabbing, attacks anyone criticizing HIM.

Stop peddling lies about FR for your Master, Bishop Romney,
who is the sole author of BOTH RomneyCARE and gay marriage.

"Hum? What lies in this thread? Who is off the reservation? Lots of accusations and no facts."

Romney is: pro abortion pro homosexual agenda pro government mandates pro man mad global warming pro gun grab pro big government pro government health care pro welfare (and more)

That list is simply not accurate beyond mere distortion or exaggeration.

Want an example of "off the reservation". First, would be all the posters that say there is no difference in Romney and Obama, that they are one in the same. These people don't have the first clue about how our system of government works or they would NOT say this. To be an adult and have this opinion is clearly off the reservation

Another is all the "I'll never vote for Romney" crowd. Who seem to think doing a write in vote is somehow not voting for Romney and not helping to reelect Obama. They are free to vote or not vote however they want but their mind set is off the reservation.

Lies, distortions = Romney appointed liberal justices. People that make this claim are either misinformed (distorting) or they know the truth of the Mass. System but are in fact (lying) about his appointments.

I could go on and on but I'm not going to get into a pissing match with those that have mindset that is not based in reality.

So Romney isn't consistent. Obama is -- consistently anti-American, consistently pro-Socialist, and consistently anti-private property and anti-individualism.

Whatever else he is, Romney knows private business better than Obama, is more pro-capitalism than Obama, and unlike Obama, has to consider whether his actions in office will alienate Republicans. That latter is particularly key.

I can't imagine a plausible scenario where Romney is worse than Obama, and quite a few where he will be significantly better.

Gotta say this. People like you and all the others who will jump on here to declare their purity and their vow never to vote for Romney are not as good as you think you are.

In fact, you are downers, annoying, elitists and if all the conservatives I knew were like you, I would become a liberal.

I am not a liberal. I am for every conservative principle you could possible name.

The difference is I’m not a woebegotten nutcase.

Well said, my FRiend!

Talk about being off the reservation.

You are the one supporting a liberal, and complaining about conservatives who won't join you in supporting a liberal. And You're doing the complaining on a conservative site owned by a person who has the opposite opinion from you.

After all, it is his reservation.

Then, you claim that opposing a liberal is just like a lib and supporting a liberal is somehow being a good conservative.

Finally, anyone giving your rant a fair reading would have no choice but to concludes that it is you who believes he smarter, and intellectually superior

"You are the one supporting a liberal, and complaining about conservatives who won't join you in supporting a liberal."

Romney is not a liberal, not by today's standards anyway. He is certainly more liberal than I would like but the choice is Obama or Romney, not Romney or Ronald Reagan. Between the two there is no comparison and to equate the two is off the reservation. We must defeat Obama. He is a Marxist, a socialist, a communist who is systematically destroying America as we know it. Romney is not even in Obama's league.

So what are you going to do? The choice is either Romney or Obama.

11. Romney is a politician and thus can be manipulated by money and votes (if our side learns to play that game). Obama, however is an activist who is bent on transforming America no matter what people think or say.

Congrats. At least you didn’t ping Jim as many of your smarmy little cohorts do.

Jim has declared that we are free to support Romney on this forum and to make posts to that effect.

If he changes his mind, I’m sure he’ll let us know and then we can either stop or leave.

There is a mixture of things I can’t agree with on this thread.

First of all, saying ENOUGH and asserting one will not vote for Romney, a man whose record of governing in Mass. is full of Rhino compromise is certainly something that can be termed principled and even conservative principled. I may not withold my vote in this manner but I understand the issue.

Secondly for anyone to claim there aren’t anti-Mormon threads on this site is disingenuous at best and an attempt at disinformation of a leftist caste at the least. The is an entire clutch of posters that make their entire participation on the site about trolling for Mormons or their defenders and “exposing” the flaws of the practice of Mormonism. They have taken the appellation “the flying Inmans.” When you take a nasty name as a badge of honor you are declaring you are a party.

The owner of the site has plainly said threads promoting Romney are not welcome. As I respect his sponsorship of this site I will certainly always comply — why can’t others — there is a lot of politics and news without Mitt.

Romney is:

pro abortion: “Speaking at a bioethics forum, GOP gubernatorial hopeful Mitt Romney yesterday endorsed embryonic stem cell research. The Boston Globe, 6/14/02
“I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it.” The Boston Globe, 3/2/06)
I will preserve and protect a woman’s right to choose, and am devoted and dedicated to honoring my word in that regard. I will not change any provisions of Massachusetts’ pro-choice laws.” (2002 Romney-O’Brien Gubernatorial Debate, Suffolk University, Boston, MA, 10/29/02)

pro homosexual agenda: In 1994, called President Bill Clinton’s ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ military policy ‘the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nation’s military.’” The Washington Post, 12/21/06
When a 2002 Constitutional Amendment was proposed to ban same-sex marriage, Romney opposed it. The Boston Globe, 3/22/02

pro government mandates/ health insurance: Romney signed a bill Wednesday requiring all Massachusetts residents to purchase health insurance. The Washington Post, 4/13/06

pro man mad global warming: “I think the global warming debate is now pretty much over and people recognize the need associated with providing sources which do not generate the heat that is currently provided by fossil fuels” Cape Cod Times, 3/14/03)

pro gun grab: “I will take stands that put him at odds with some traditional ultra- conservative groups, and cite my support for the assault rifle ban and the Brady gun control law. ‘That’s not going to make me the hero of the NRA,’ he said. ‘I don’t line up with a lot of special interest groups.” Boston Herald, 9/23/94)

pro big government: Mitt Romney broke with GOP tradition and refused to sign the Americans for Tax Reform.” The Boston Globe, 9/4/06)

pro welfare:
(and more): “Illegal immigrants should have a chance to obtain citizenship.”, ” The Lowell Sun, 3/30/06)
“I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I’m not trying to return to Reagan- Bush.” The Boston Globe, 2/26/05)

Since you mentioned judges:

2005, The Boston Globe

Romney has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters (75%) of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced, instead tapping registered Democrats or independents – including two gay lawyers who have supported expanded same-sex rights.

Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show. In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters, and 14 registered Democrats.

Yea, I guess my view of Romney is distorted.

I agree...you probably can't imagine Romney worse than Obama...and the 'better' does remain to be seen to our own peril with either Romney or Obama....they are a double headed coin no matter how it's tossed.

Romney is Pond scum?

Rather than scream ‘pond scum’ as if your opinions are godlike truths don’t you think a bit of humility is well overdue in the internet.

Care to tell us about your charitable giving? About your missionary work and the work you did with fellow church members in need?

About the jobs you helped to create or the value you created for your family and society in general?

Or about how you helped reduce your state’s budget deficit? Or about how you turned around a failing Olympics?

Pond scum? Really?

Yes I remember that thread! I'm not sure what was really meant by it and it turned into a lively debate to say the least.

Do you really think Jim wants anyone who supports Romney to go away? Or maybe just not say anything about the election yet somehow have a reason to visit the site? This is a political site and the politics of the day IS going to be about the presidential election which will be a choice of Mitt Romney or Barrack Obama. If we can't have threads that support Romney then I'm not sure what we are doing here at all.
