Never thought of it that way before: being president means that you never have to load your own mags.

I wonder if she could hit Russians with it.

M14 or clone of some type

It’s an M-14 with a civilian bipod, some sort of grafted-on cheekpiece and a real tall and old-model scope mount. It has the selector lock on its disconnector spindle, so it’s locked into semiauto in its current configuration. It isn’t ready to go, since the magazine is missing and the shooter doesn’t have a finger in the trigger guard.

They make a smaller mag that sits flush with the bottom of the well, makes for a smoother bottom for getting down low if there is no bipod attached. She could have one in the well, and it would appear just like it does in the photo.

I had one for my rifle before the boating accident.

Look at the gas block flash hider and op rod and you will see that it isn’t a Ruger Mini 14

Did not see that.

You are correct.

Or an M1A1, but it has a short mag - 5 rounds?

M14 derivative.
Similar to the M25, may have an accuratized barrel, has the modified stock similar to the sniper versions of the M14.

Thatweapon appears to be condition 4: Safety ON, bolt to the rear, and magazine removed.

That’s an M14. The Clinton Administration gave away tons of them to the three Baltic nations in the mid-late 1990s.

I remember when the giveaway happened...there had been a lot of hope at the time that the CMP might finally be allowed to sell/issue genuine M14s for target use. There were a LOT of angry people as a result of this.

Lithuania now makes its own 7.62 NATO ammo for them...a bunch of it (essentially brand-new but made pre-NATO-certification) was released on the surplus market maybe eight years ago. Shooters still speak reverently of it.

That appears to be an M-14 rifle. They chamber 308 cal and are accurate as hell. I’ve been wanting one for a long time, just can’t spend $1,500 + on a gun.

Here is a photo of the current president of Lithuania.

I'd say, Lithuania has a way cooler president than we do.

U.S. Rifle, 7.62mm, M14. Beautiful, and I don’t mean
the president of Lithuania.

...wouldn't that be true for most book-clubs too?
