The latest insult (filming President Bushs Decapitated Head on a Spike) from HBO is enough to put me over the edge. Join me and ensure HBO and Time Warner feel some economic pain. Jeffrey Bewkes are you listening?
It is time to close our wallets to HBO and all Time Warner Divisions. It is time for conservatives to vote with their feet and choose other programing, movies, and products.
Here is a list of simple actions each conservative individual can take (these are my opinions and not those of TownHall or its management):
- Cancel your subscription HBO. Fast, simple, effective.
- Never attend a Warner Bros film the first 4 weeks it comes out. The Studios usually get a higher percentage of the Box Office dollars the early weeks of a release. So wait to see their films and get your kids to wait as well.
- Never buy a Warner Bros DVD new. Just about every title can be bought on eBay and elsewhere at lower prices used (many under $3). This also means your dollars will not reach Time Warner.
- Be vocal. Spread the word. Call the company to complain every time you disagree with the political insults their divisions throw. A quick Google search will provide names and phone numbers.
Let management hear your voices, and not feel the effect of your spending.
I'm saving $50 a month for a few less choices and far better equipment.
I'm not looking back at all.
I would never have HBO in the first place...they have to jam a bunch of faggots into every show they make no matter the topic. FHBO and their support of every stinking libtard agenda.
I’d boycott ‘em but I don’t watch ‘em...
Don’t most conservatives already do so?
At the very least, the Game of Thrones thing is protected free speech. Boycott them if you like. It won't harm HBO in the least.
I don’t really care. HBO has provided me with good entertainment. I don’t view it for their politics.
You don't ask for much, I guess.
The rules have changed.
You could always watch “16 and Pregnant”. Haven’t seen any homos on that one.
I’m not a sure a scene that first got aired over a year ago and nobody bothered to notice until now should really be called “the latest insult”. Really guys, random masks get used all the time, ask Bill Shatner.
No way would I support or pay for that degenerate network to begin with, just due to the presence of that sub-human piece of filth Bill Maher. The whole notion of actually paying to subscribe to the network, and having that money basically go right into Obama’s coffers, is like personally funding the bullets used to shoot at me. HBO is less a network than an enemy of everything I value and cherish.
I gave HBO the boot in 1999; I gave Time warner the boot in 2005.
All I have now is a broadband internet connection, an $8 Netflix subscription and an $8 per month VOIP service.
Last I checked, It costs me about $70 a month total.
No, dammit, I wanna be outraged! Sure, I saw the original episode, then saw it again on DVD, and then listened to some commentary—though not that episode—and then heard this on the news months later, but it’s a terrible affront to all that is good and decent, and I’m not going to take it anymore!
I am a history buff, so I enjoyed Rome, Boardwalk Empire, and my all time favorite: Deadwood. I also enjoyed the Sopranos and Oz, though not historic.
Enjoyed the Tudors on Showtime and Pillars of the Earth on STARZ and am excited about World Without End (Pillars of the Earth 200 years later).
I don’t subscribe to HBO so I haven’t seen Game of Thrones, but I do intend to check it out via Netflix at some point.
We may put different values on entertainment, but they just don’t have any good historical based series or miniseries other than on the premium channels.
Same here. Hence I don't watch TV much anymore. I don't go to the movies at all and haven't bought a DVD is maybe 4 years.
Come to think of it, I don't buy much of anything. I buy food at local markets and my disposable income mostly goes to amm..er, pretty flowers. It looks like I'm Galt by default!
LOL, they react really strangely when you refuse 90 days of free HBO. The guy from Verizon actually didn’t take no for an answer and signed me up anyway. When I immediately called to cancel the free service (and file a formal complaint against the salesman) they were flabbergasted.
I agree 100%.
HOWEVER - If we conservatives boycott every immoral, unethical, illegal, anti-American, anti-Christian person, place and thing we will end up living off planet in a vacuum.
That is how far our society and culture have fallen.
I’m happy for you. Most people who live alone won’t be concerned about their children taking in that drivel.
Fag and anti-Catholic network.
If both sides get slammed and I like it so be it.
But I’ll be damned if I’ll pay to see my views $hit on or literally pissed on.
That’s just the beginning of it.
Already doing. Makin’ a big impact, aren’t I?
Once when my Satellite Provider gave me a “Free Trial” of HBO, I called them and demanded they remove that from my service, free or not. I didn’t ask for it, and I didn’t want it in my home - period.
Hey HBO: When you sh*t-can the vile Bill Maher, we'll talk.
Please remember that Time Warner Cable is no longer affiliated with Time Warner. They were spun off several years back. Don’t punish TWC for HBO’s sins.
People keep wanting me to boycott things I don’t buy.
It’s not once. Pretty much every month you get a free trial of one of the channels. That’s just the only time you noticed.
Who? What?
Not a thing on there to see.
Changing the world one channel at a time.
Ditto!
Other than Oz, which is despicable I admit, I wouldn’t have a problem with my son watching any of those. He might catch sight of a pair of boobs, which isn’t going to hurt a young boy in today’s society, but aside from that, it is not any worse than anything on free TV.
You really think freaking out about a dummie head that appeared on HBO over a year ago is going to solve any problem any where? Really?
The dummy head is the article, the only anybody doing any obsessing are the whiners that think that means they should boycott HBO.
I don’t feel a need to punish myself for other people’s short comings. The fact of the matter is there are liberals everywhere, if you spend a dime at any company with more than 20 employees you just gave money to liberals, guaranteed. The real problem here is self righteous dingbats that like to make a big show about how much they “care” by making a bunch of hollow pointless gestures like boycotts. I’m sure you’ve been boycotting Hollywood for years and yet they’re still a multi-trillion dollar industry, they don’t miss you. Your boycott accomplishes nothing, expect possibly fueling an unearned sense of superiority.
I save my caring for things that actually do something.
I saw the head in question. It does not look like George W. Bush at all. I think someone is trying to troll us.
I didn’t project motivations on anybody, you CLEARLY have a sense of superiority because of your boycott of Hollywood and it is ENTIRELY unearned.
Hollywood is doing fine because they’re making products people want to buy. That’s how businesses do fine. There’s a whole big wide world of life out there besides politics, letting it rule your life makes your life narrow and hollow.
Hey look at you, first whining that I projected motives on you (which I didn’t because you gloat constantly about how important your Hollywood boycott it) then YOU project motives on ME. The problem is I ain’t congratulating anybody, especially not me. I’m just pointing out the logical fallacy of your boycott obsession.
There’s plenty of leftist T-shirts at Target, not to mention Hollywood movies. So you’re wrong again.
Meanwhile I get to enjoy my life because I understand what I’m buying. When I’m buying a movie I’m buying entertainment, heavy leftist movies aren’t entertaining, so I don’t buy them. What happens to my money after it leave my hands don’t care, not my money anymore. I’m sure some of it winds up support causes I agree with, and some causes I don’t, doesn’t matter though, not my money anymore. What matters is did I get what I wanted. That’s what I buy.
Meanwhile you work yourself into a ridiculous tizzy about a dummy head that was shown over a year ago that was so unclear we had to be told by the director it was a model of Bush. And you continue to wave around your unearned sense of superiority. And insults. But that’s what we’ve come to expect from you. Lots of table banging and no content.
Oh look now you’ve gone all personal attack. Typical.
I’ve got a suggestion for you, stop thinking you know anything about anybody. You blather on and on about what others should do, but you don’t know anything about what they do. I read tons of book, I probably read more books than you. It’s not an either or world, one can watch TV AND read AND not be a self righteous dingbat. You fail on at least 2 of those.
Oh and nobody declared they were proud that they don’t care what HBO’s politics are. Before you go declaring other people have severe reading disabilities you should bother to learn to read yourself. He just said he didn’t care, not proud, just didn’t. Like most people. They buy their entertainment for the entertainment, not for the beliefs of the makers away from the entertainment.
just pointing out simple reality. You go on and on and on about how everybody should do things your way, how “Frankly, no Freeper should be paying a dime to the anti-American Hollywood machine in any capacity whatsoever”. And then somebody points out that’s a bunch of self righteous ego inflation, and you get mad. Which is to be expected because all you’ve got is insults. You walked into this thread throwing insults and stroking yourself and you just keep it up. All I did was not buy into your crap and point out that like all other crap it stinks. That’s not a personal attack, that’s reality. You’re self righteous, and like all self righteous people you don’t deserve to be.
You’re kidding yourself if you think that your posts were anything less than rude as hell right off the bat. That’s fine, but don’t cry when the person you’re rude to responds the same way.
You’re obviously way too sensitive about this issue (TV for Pete’s sake), and I’m guessing it’s because you rationalize your patronage. That’s your issue. The fact remains that conservatives giving money to the Hollywood machine is like 1930s Jews giving money to Goebbels. Deal with it.
Puh-leeze. American cinema is a large part of American culture and plays a large part in the way the rest of the world sees us. It always has been. It’s like saying that one shouldn’t read American books because of some vile political hatchet jobs that get published every year.
Hey there’s the pot calling the kettle black. I responded in kind, you came to the thread with insults and a holier than thou attitude, I pointed out that you’re full of crap.
I’m not sensitive to and of it. You’re the one that’s sensitive to having your sanctimonious BS pointed out. Hey then you run to the Nazi thing, I invoke Godwin, you lose. Bye now.
