In 1993, King entered an alcohol rehabilitation program and was placed on probation after crashing his vehicle into a block wall in downtown Los Angeles...On August 27, 2003, King was arrested again for speeding and running a red light while under the influence of alcohol. He failed to yield to police officers and slammed his vehicle into a house...

Well, the bottom of a swimming pool is just a laid-down wall...

Rodney King's life was a series of encountering walls at the wrong speed or in the wrong environment...

I watched him as well on Celebrity Rehab. He wasn’t what I expected. Seemed truly genuine nice man. Was routing for his sobriety.

“But my question is Whose Pool? Was it private or public? Was he at a party there, before this happened?”

Likely Clint Eastwood’s, “The Dead Pool”. No, I am very serious. You know all the attention the press is going to give this. And you know the charges that will probably be raised. This election season is going to be full of it.

Harvey Levin ‏@HarveyLevinTMZ Our sources say Rodney King's fiancee is telling people he was drinking and smoked weed before his death http://www.tmz.com/2012/06/17/rodney-king-dead-drowned-drinking-smoking/ Expand Ok that explains it. Wait !!! I thought Liberals says Smoking Weed is harmless. Now lookie someone is floating on the bottom of a pool like a dead goldfish. Wasn't he award millions of dollars, wonder what he did with it? RIP Rodney, hope and pray you found that peace.

Rodney King drowns for an unknown reason, but the media uses the occasion to regurgitate the infamous beating of 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the media, and young people learn nothing from the way the media portrays the event. All we see are the cops beating up King, but we’re not given any background to know why. The fact is, King provoked the entire sordid affair by failing to yield to a cop in the first place. Instead, he caused a pursuit that ended badly for him, and others. I don’t particularly care for cops, but they don’t start beating on everyone they stop for a traffic violation.
The media does nothing to tell young people how to stop a minor incident from escalating in the first place, or for that matter what King did to provoke the incident. Cops don’t want to be beat up, and they don’t want to die, so any aggressive act by a citizen could quickly result in a more aggressive response by the cop, or cops. Instead, I watched some idiot on TV lamenting how the beating affected King for life, as though he was innocent before the beating. Even in the video, it was clear King was not submissive, but still trying to get up. Perhaps the cops were to aggressive or violent in their response, but the fact remains, King created the problem by his own actions.

King was a tool of the nutty left that wants to portray defined groups of people as victims of racism, sexism, homophobia etc.

Rodney King was an addict and sadly like other famous addicts from Michael Jackson to F. Scott Fitzgerald he died an early death.

As I recall, Rodney King ran a tremendously dangerous high speed chase on the freeway, endangering the lives of many. I also believe he was high on PCP or Angel Dust or crack which led him to confront the cops with enormous physical strength. That portion of the tape was never shown on tv.

I, too, think he was pathetic in his “can’t we all get along?” moment. But he also caused enormous harm to others. I truly hope he rests in peace.

Rodney King not been on parole for armed robbery and driving drunk at 117 miles per hour, or when arrested had he simply obeyed a lawful order to lie on the ground, the "Rodney King Riots" would never have happened. The death of 53 people and over one billion dollars in damage would have been averted. And as a bonus, he also would have avoided that beat down.

I used to feel exactly the same way, but after reading stories and seeing videos of police behavior over the course of the past 20 years, I have become nothing but sypathetic toward Rodney King in retrospect.

Al. Baby. I was there, in Inglewood; a white face in a world of blackness. I lived at 109th and Inglewood, and saw the National Guard come up from the South along Inglewood Blvd.

I had gone for an interview close to LAX and felt I should NOT wait for an interview an hour past my actual interview time. I RAN for the bus stop on the south side of Century (Centiennial?) Blvd.

As I walked in the door of my duplex, I turned on the TV, only to find that Reginald Denny had been beaten by blacks who didn’t like the fact that he was driving through the intersection of Normandy and Florence

Update from the Daily Caller:

"Rodney King, the longtime drug abuser whose videotaped 1991 beating at the hands of Los Angeles police officers after a high-speed chase attracted international attention, has been found dead in a swimming pool at his home."

"King’s fiancé, Cynthia Kelley, reportedly told friends that he had been drinking all day Saturday, and at one point smoked marijuana. She said that she awoke around 2 a.m. to the sounds of a naked King beating on the glass."

"Kelley, a juror who helped decide King’s civil lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles, said she then went to grab the phone when she heard a giant splash from the pool. Paramedics were called to the scene, but could not revive King."

http://dailycaller.com/2012/06/17/la-beating-victim-rodney-king-dead-at-47-after-life-of-crime-drug-abuse/

No, from this article, it does not look like murder. Looks like he had a drunken/drugged out orgy and fell into his own pool. The drinking/drugged combo probably inhibited his swimming co-ordination and he quickly drowned.

Figures that the Daily Caller would get out the details the Lamestream media did not want out.

This guy was not just on alcohol but drugs also. The main reason that he got beaten by those cops was that at the time he was hopped up on PCP which can give one, somehow, enhanced strength.
Someone on PCP can be damn hard to bring down and control.
Rodney King was a pathetic individual but the tinder box that was and is LA was looking for an excuse to go off and he happened to be it.
What I don't see here mentioned is what happened to the cops that were found not guilty at the state level but were pursued by a Tyrannical Government and convicted of violating his so called Civil Rights. Call what you want be I believe that was and is a form of Double Jeopardy.
