An article by Michael O'Brien on MSNBC's First Read this morning quotes an "informal" advisor to Mitt Romney's campaign as saying that the presidential candidate is not likely to choose a woman as his running mate because Sarah Palin "poisoned the well" for women, with the possible exception of New Hampshire freshman Sen. Kelly Ayotte.

That would only make sense if Palin was perceived as a threat to Romney—like before she opted out of the presidential race in 2011. At this point that cannot be the case. There would be no point to Romney dissing Palin and angering her supporters.

The burden of proof is on the person making the claim. As long as that person remains anonymous the claim is, in my opinion, suspect.

I heard her with Hannity last night. When asked if she would support the “presumed” Republican nominee, she didn’t mention Romney’s name but said, as she noted she has said in the past, that she would vote for anybody that opposes Obama.

She knows who has sand bagged her and led the campaign against her and isn’t going to give them anything but a back handed endorsement.
