Cataract surgery is one of the best things you can do for yourself. I was 58 when I had it done, and had worn glasses for 50 years. Now, I can pass the drivers license eye exam without glasses, AND read the fine print on packages without glasses. For long-term reading comfort, I wear glasses, but I can function without them.
If anyone is hesitating to have the surgery, hesitate no more. You will be relieved and pleased afterwards.

I wish I'd done it sooner. You might not notice until they get really bad. When you get the first eye done and the bandage comes off the change is almost unbelievable.
While I was on the table my doctor made an extra little cut and cured my astigmatism too. He said he was going to have to throw the knife away anyway, might as well get his money's worth out of it.
He is a photography nut so he understands how important my eyes are to me.

If your doctor will do it now there is no point in waiting, other than that you’ll notice the difference more if you wait.

Woo Hoo!
Happy for you, Swampsniper!
I was just thanking God for the gift of sight earlier today, and for the ability to see His natural wonder-filled world.
Drought and all (southern WI), it’s still pretty spectacular what life is out there.

Great news! So happy you are seeing great again!
I know doctors say if we live long enough, we end up with Cataracts. I am not quite ready to have one removed from my right eye. It is very small and seems to be stationary for the time being and not in my vision field. Guess sooner or later it will. I am 71 and my parents both had cataract surgery when they were in their 70’s.
It is wonderful that the surgery is so very safe and easy now. I remember the old days when one had to be in the hospital for days with sandbags holding one’s head from moving!!! Then they had to wear big thick glasses to see!

You could try taking L taurine. It needs be L taurine. I first learned about it removing cataracts when my cat had a big one going across his eye. A pet naturalist told me about giving him L taurine and it wasn't too long and it was gone. Later I had a dog that upon occasion would get cataracts. When I gave him L taurine they disappeared every time and usually were gone for quite some time. I do not know if it works for humans, but most things that work for dogs do.

Glad to hear it. My mom spent most of her life legally blind (20-200+ vision) and after cataract surgery can read and drive without glasses for the first time in her adult life.

Congratulations.
FYI, here's something to keep in mind as you go forward.
Secondary cataract
During cataract surgery the outer shell (capsule) of the natural lens is left behind to hold the artificial lens (implant). Over time, in most patients, this outer shell becomes cloudy. This condition is called a secondary cataract. You will notice your vision will become blurred like it did with the original cataract.
I'm having
YAG laser surgery to correct my left eye next week.
