Whoah. Saudi Arabia has decided to allow female athletes to compete in the Olympics for the first time in history. The move ends speculation that the country might have faced banishment from the London Olympics for gender discrimination. The only female competitor currently up to Olympic standards is show jumper Dalma Rushdi Malhas, said officials. But others may end up competing, and all will be dressed to "preserve their dignity," they added. That likely means modest, loose-fitting clothing and a "sports hijab" covering competitors' hair, but not their face, reports the BBC. It's huge step for the nation, where the move is fiercely opposed by many religious groups.

As a show jumper, she should be in a hard-hat pretty much all of the time, so covered hair would not be a problem. But that photo does not look very Sharia-compliant.
I’ll second that.
Extremely pretty. Is that what’s hiding behind all those veils? I doubt it.
whatever she did, she is not guilty!
Don't know about all the countries but Persian women are generally very pretty. All the ones at my uni were hot plus they keep themselves in shape.
Isn’t this lady a Saudi? Or is she a European married to an Saudi Arab?
I thought this was a joke when I opened the thread.
I fully expected to see a picture of a woman wearing a burka jumping hurdles.
I guess this is one time I wouldn't mind hearing, OHHH Allah, OOOHHHHHHH Allah, OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH Allah.
Born in Ohio USA.

actually, as burqas go, that is a provacative shot. You can actually see that the one on the far right is a woman.
Now I understand.
Hazel-blue eyes? Looks like she has a little Crusader blood in her.
After 3000 years, all of us have blood in us from somewhere else.
No doubt. And my ancestors having come from France, I'd like to think I have a little of my hero's blood, coursing thru my veins.
I refer to Charles "The Hammer" Martel, who it is said, saved Western Civilization as we know it and stopped the barbaric, murdering, hordes of Islamic Jihadists efforts at World-Wide Supremacy at the battle of Tours.
Most people have no idea how close they came to conquering all of Europe.
The Battle of Tours earned Charles the cognomen "Martel" ('Hammer') for the merciless way he hammered his enemies. Many historians, including Sir Edward Creasy, believe that had he failed at Tours, Islam would probably have overrun Gaul, and perhaps the remainder of Western Europe. Gibbon made clear his belief that the Umayyad armies would have conquered from Japan to the Rhine, and even England, having the English Channel for protection, with ease, had Martel not prevailed.
Creasy said "the great victory won by Charles Martel ... gave a decisive check to the career of Arab conquest in Western Europe, rescued Christendom from Islam, [and] preserved the relics of ancient and the germs of modern civilization." Gibbon's belief that the fate of Christianity hinged on this battle is echoed by other historians including John B. Bury, and was very popular for most of modern historiography.
Here dad is Palestinian.
“You can actually see that the one on the far right is a woman.”
They all look enough alike that they might be the *same* woman.
Yikes, I see ankles!
How’s she gonna’ jump wearing a burka?
There, fixed it.....no such thing as a "Palestinian", they're Arabs, nothing more, nothing less.
