Skip to comments. What would the first line of YOUR opus be? (Vanity)
Posted on 07/03/2012 12:49:54 PM PDT by Luna
There have been some dull opuses here at FR. Its no wonder theyre met with such contempt and ridicule by other Freepers. No one likes boring. We like to be entertained, for crying out loud! Opus people, if youre going to write an opus, make it worth our while.
I'm good, hope you are as well.
Happy Independence Day!
You could PM it but then again it was so uninteresting maybe it needed to be pulled.
It got stale the second it was posted....
I have them in front of me,behind me and at my sides as drones fly over head...I have the poor bastards right where I want them......
I’ll see you on the other side.
This wouldn’t make a shabby opus.
“The Federal Government, while but partially under the control of these our unnatural and sectional enemies, has for years almost entirely failed to protect the lives and property of the people of Texas against the Indian savages on our border, and more recently against the murderous forays of banditti from the neighboring territory of Mexico; and when our State government has expended large amounts for such purpose, the Federal Government has refused reimbursement therefor, thus rendering our condition more insecure and harassing than it was during the existence of the Republic of Texas.
These and other wrongs we have patiently borne in the vain hope that a returning sense of justice and humanity would induce a different course of administration. “
Plus ca change, plus de la meme chose.
F all you gdmfcsahpossobesad.
I’m fixin to saturate this place with my absence.
For me... an appropriate one from Hamlet (to Ophelia)
I did love thee once.
A wise man keeps his mouth closed and is thought a fool.
A fool opens his and removes all doubt.
Texas abandoned her separate national existence and consented to become one of the Confederated Union to promote her welfare, insure domestic tranquility and secure more substantially the blessings of peace and liberty to her people. She was received into the confederacy with her own constitution, under the guarantee of the federal constitution and the compact of annexation, that she should enjoy these blessings. She was received as a commonwealth holding, maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery-- the servitude of the African to the white race within her limits-- a relation that had existed from the first settlement of her wilderness by the white race, and which her people intended should exist in all future time. Her institutions and geographical position established the strongest ties between her and other slave-holding States of the confederacy. Those ties have been strengthened by association. But what has been the course of the government of the United States, and of the people and authorities of the non-slave-holding States, since our connection with them?
The controlling majority of the Federal Government, under various pretences and disguises, has so administered the same as to exclude the citizens of the Southern States, unless under odious and unconstitutional restrictions, from all the immense territory owned in common by all the States on the Pacific Ocean, for the avowed purpose of acquiring sufficient power in the common government to use it as a means of destroying the institutions of Texas and her sister slaveholding States.
“This is not an opus, but ...”
It was a dark and stormy time.
I sass that, you hoopy frood.
Hold my beer and watch this...
The dark side of the moon?
My opus would begin:
Goodby cruel FR. Nobody actually loves me, I am not getting enough respect, I have had it with the magic underwear jokes. The give and take has become the bump and run, the birdie has become the bogie, I am done.
I see what you did there.
And I even understood all of the words that fit that acronym.
You are sick. Get help. /s
I don’t want to talk to you no more, you empty headed animal food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. Your mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.
“Freepers! Look at me when I talk to you, and lend me your ears, you blocks, you stones, you worse than senseless things!
It was the worst of times, it was the worst of times.
Sometimes it's better to light a flamethrower than curse the darkness.
I am through cursing.
I like I’ll never be back and then you answer every post that responds:)I mean this in good faith.I understand frustrations but most always come back.
“I should never have fallen asleep in the Religion Forum. I woke up packed in ice with a note pinned to my shirt saying my kidneys had been removed.”
Hey... you stole my Dickens line... LOL
128 posts and not one show tune.
I guess theater is dead.
.......”Sometime in the not to far distance past”.........
Still, it’s eerie how the part that I did quote can be quoted word for word today...
Come smell my carcass, I’m dead.
“I’ve been a member here since 1867 and it’s never been this bad. Jim Robertson is out of control. This is worse than Hiroshima. I hope Obama declares Marshall Law”
What a Long Strange Trip It’s Been
“it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”
(Probably already taken.)
My Opus.....By CONTRARIAN....... STOP ME IF YOU HAVE HEARD THIS ONE....
I have come to the conclusion that matter doesnt size
and that there is much more value in the motion of the Bosun
therefore I have chosen to move on
and use my now highly valued talents elsewhere.
Goodbye to those less talented here on FR.
Freep you mods you gdmfcsahpossobesad
'Oh Rowty-owty tiddly-owty
I would then retire from FR and take up a garret in Lambeth.
LOL! Good one, Grey.
Shower, cheese, moose, sister, beeber, stuned, popcorn, unngh.
Now that I’m conscious, who are all you people and why does my butt hurt?
You owe me a new leg. I had to gnaw mine off to survive that.
Am I logged in?
Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.
There once was this thing called an Opus
The Author can't keep it in focus
They Whine and they Bitch
While they're making their Pitch
But their Opus is just Hocus Pocus
He's in mourning. Didn't you hear?
My Dearest Freepers,
