Kelsey Grammer's wife Kayte has given birth to their first child together.
The Boss actor, 57, and his 32-year-old spouse who were expecting twins are 'thrilled' after welcoming a 'healthy baby girl' weighing 6lbs 2oz into the world this morning in Los Angeles, and they have named her Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer.
But the couple revealed they tragically lost their unborn son shortly after announcing Kayte was pregnant with twins.
'We choose to celebrate the life that has been given us. We proudly introduce our Faith to the world today looking forward to the days ahead and the children yet to come.'
In a personal note, they said: 'Early this morning Kayte gave birth to Faith Evangeline Elisa Grammer. We are thrilled. She was 6lbs 2oz when she entered the world at 1am on the 13th of July in the year 2012. Mother and child are in excellent health.'
'We were ecstatic earlier this year, when we announced that Kayte was carrying twins. Tragically we lost the little boy shortly thereafter. This was not something we cared to make known publicly at the time.'
'It was unspeakably painful and we know that people will understand our desire to keep the news private then, as we know they will respect our privacy in this matter now. A glorious birth with a lingering sadness is ours today.

How's that for a name? In a world of dumb Hollyweirdos and other Americans burdening their children with crazy concocted names
Go the Daily Mail for nice photos of the pregnant mom.
Well, said. Congratulations, Mr and Mrs Grammer.
“Americans burdening their children with crazy concocted names”
Sadly, it’s now the norm.
When I told a friend that my son and DIL named our first grandbaby Leah, they said “Really?! Why would they name her THAT?” Like it was a bad thing.
Congrats to the Grammers on the birth of their precious daughter.
Leah...out of the Bible. Biblical names are always OK.
Maybe the parents are fans of Longfellow’s poetry.
Biblical name (from the book of Esther)--but the parents gave the name to a daughter although the Biblical figure was a Persian man. I suspect they opened the Bible at random and just picked the first name they saw without examining the context.
Welcoming a new conservative into the world.
Are you serious? Grammar cheated on his former wife who he has two other children with. Is that a conservative value?
Thanks for the reality check. You will probably get flamed in 3-2-1.
This may sound kind of silly, but does anyone know how I may get in touch with the Grammers? My husband and I had a similar situation, where we lost our daughter’s twin before birth. I would like to contact them to offer comfort and encouragement.
Yes, her full name means
“I am delicate, weary. God is my strength”
In the 14th century I had a cousin who ended up on the wrong side in the War of the Roses. We never spoke again.
My great-great-grandfather and his brother were on opposing sides in the War between the States (although not, as far as I know, on opposing sides in the same battle). According to my grandfather's first cousin, they never spoke again after the war--but they lived some distance apart even before the war.
He may vote conservative, but his personal life has been a mess. One wife was a stripper, one was a Playboy model. He's dated porn actresses. He's had two sex tape scandals, neither involving any of the significant women in his life. He's had three arrests for cocaine possession, some DUIs (one involved totaling his Dodge Viper) and a stint at Betty Ford.
I sincerely congratulate the Grammers on the birth of this child, but CityCenter's right if he suggests Grammer has not been publicly displaying conservative values.
He will be very lucky to live to see his daughter graduate high school. I think it is profoundly selfish to have your first child with a woman when you are almost 60 years old.
He could have adopted a child and given it a loving home. There was no reason to have a child who you know will have a dead father by the time she graduates college.
It is one thing if you have married and you end up with the last kid when you are 57. That is just having a family. Without you, the child will still have a mother and lots of siblings.
This child will have a mother and no father by the time she graduates college, and it was planned that way.
I think that is just terribly selfish on his part.
What is selfish is someone like my nephew who cannot feed and clothe or provide housing for the child he now has. They are living with me until we can find some other place for them to go, otherwise they would be living out of his car. He has a job but never finished high school so makes only slightly more than minimum wage. This nephew announced the other day that he wants to have a daughter. I asked him why and he said that he just wanted to raise a girl. No other reason other than that.
Now that is selfish. No regard to the welfare of the child but only wants one because he wants one and the taxpayers or someone else can pick up the tab.
Hopefully Faith's father will live to see her graduate from high school. But if not, would she be better off never having come into existence?
According to Wikipedia, Kelsey's parents divorced when he was two and his father was murdered when he was 13. His younger sister was raped and murdered when he was about 20 and later two half-brothers were killed in an accident. Not that that excuses his own behavior but it appears that he had little contact with his own father before his father was killed.
As I am a 76YO, Father of 52 and 22 year old sons by two women, in mariages.
My oldest has given me 2 grandsons. The youngest is in college and will soon graduate.
You are right in one sense but wrong in many others. When my first was born I was in the Army and some of my friends who also had children of that period never came home. One of my friends name is on the Wall and his last child was born after his death! Where any of them selfish for having children when they were in the military?
Before my BP goes any higher I will close with: those who died knew and others know what your Freeper name truly means and like Kelsey and his wife they exercise that right!
You are the selfish one condemning others for living FREE!
Have a great day
Kelsey Grammer’s selfish, but we’re not! Why, we’re perfectly perfect!
