There are lots of experts in this forum of one kind or another. Here we have James Holmes. Why wasn't he taken down? Would you have done it?
After reading your posts, I do indeed believe that the self delusion and sheer idiocy of certain persons on this thread is indeed breathtaking.
Add in it was a sell out crowd so you’re packed in there like sardines. Not likely anyone could move quickly. People laying on the floor makes it hard to dash out the aisle. Hate to say it but he picked the perfect scenerio with the victims being in the dark, not worried about a character costume and movement limited.
With a plane, you’re only one or two people from the aisle. A sports arena and a mall are too large for a single gunman to keep control.
I wasn’t there, but how would one get to him with all those people in the way?
No, I have gone from reports that he entered from the lower right emergency exit and started with explosion, smoke/tear gas, and bulletts flying everywhere.
Tell me under that scenario to where those closet to him who were choking on tear gas, in the dark, dehabilitated, scared, and seeing bodies all over the place are going to tackle him?
Ohh, don’t get me wrong. I expect the worst of those I haven’t trained. I just enjoy the excorsise
They couldnt have - this was the perfect plan for evil of this nature since it was a dark crowded theatre and you have mayhem and chaos exploding and no one w any chance to do anything but die or flee in panic.

I’d forgotten about his body armor. Yes, that would make it very difficult. I think physically tackling him might have been the only way.
I fault the coward who dropped his kid and ran out leaving his girlfriend, their baby and toddler. He not just ran out but drove off in their car and then had the nerve to get in front of a tv camera and tell the world with no shame. Here's to the girlfriend to dumping his stuff on the sidewalk and making that sorry excuse for a man run far, far away from home today.

Ever go to the range and get caught wo ear protection and a guy, OUTDOORS, is shooting next to you?
Think about if you were right near this guy in the theatre , you would probably be near deafened, let alone the tear gas, smoke, bodies etc.
This guy pulled off the perfect terrorist attack and thought this all out long before, every last detail of it.
That is why I will not and ever judge those in the theatre for their actions/inaction under the circumstances.
This guy was a terrorist.

Just the muzzle blast alone would cause every person next to him to automatically reflex away giving him the needed time to mow them down!

I saw something similar when Aliens came out. A woman in a row to my front had her 2 young children with her, a small boy and girl. The girl was roughly the age of the character “Newt” when the Alien “Mother” was chasing her around and pulling up floor plates.
The little girl was crying and whimpering in abject terror while her brother and “mother”( if you want to call her that) watched in morbid fascination. I sure hope the mother like staying up nights, but I somehow doubt she concerned herself about her children's well being. I was disgusted
