My kitty cat Leopold had to be put to sleep.

Our cat Leopold had to be put to sleep. He had a severe bladder problem that couldn't be taken care of. It's a major problem for male cats.

Does anyone here have any ideas on how to cope with such a loss? I'm so heartbroken.

When he ran down the hallway I swear it sounded like a bowling ball going down the alley.

:-) That's the kind of memory to hang onto! I have one of those right now myself. She's so fat she can't groom her back, LOL.

Leo would snort when he breathed and snore like a human.

He’d sleep next to my head and it was like sleeping next to a person.

My twelve year old cat was healthy until she suddenly stopped eating. I believe that she drank a lot of water during that time, I am not sure because I do not remember when I changed her water but it seemed that it was only a few days that I had changed her water and her water bowl was totally dry. She had one of those bowls with a bottle of water on the top—it was a self filling bowl. But it seems that she drank all her water in a short time. Also there was a little bit of diarrhea.

Rush Limbaugh spoke about his cat dying from a kidney problem. He said that his cat stopped eating and that sounded like what happened to my cat. Do you have any experience with this condition. I was not able to take my cat to the vet because she slipped out into the woods to die. I have been wondering just what happened to her health.

I know this was long ago posted...and I am not sure you are even around anymore...but my family is facing a similar issue now....our lovable Tiger (21lb pound orange tabby) is going to have to be put down due to cancer....

I am very surprised by how much this is affecting me...I just can't imagine not waking up and having him jump on my shoulder and following me around like a puppy dog while I get ready for work...mornings will be so empty without such....for 14 years he gave me such joy..

Leopold is a great name...perhaps our next rescue will bear his name....

Awww. I’m sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts.

They really do become part of the family.

I haven't read the whole thread, but I am going to offer the same advice I'm sure others have offered...please provide a home for a kitty (or two) from your local shelter. I have rescued four from shelters/rescues. Two of them were headed for the 'green mile', and I got them out just in time. They have both turned into two of the most loving cats one could hope for...

Geez...I just saw the original posting date on this thread, and it dawned on me I had offered the same advice months ago. Dunkin’ Donuts coffee is soooooo overrated.

We adopted two cats last year. They just turned one and they’re very sweet. Both of them are boys.

Some goof ball at the shelter named one of them Lily. :P
I don’t know how they made that mistake.

Sometimes mistakes are made 'early on' if they are in a hurry...I had a mother cat bring her four young ones into our garage several months ago at a very early age...thought they were all girls, but the fluffy Siamese was a boy...oops.

As long as you didn't buy 'Lily' a pink collar or any pink toys, he'll be fine with it. :-)

Although Tiger will never be replaced.....our new Little Guy Leo (short for Leopold)...is sure going to make a new home in our hearts. So please welcome Leo to the PigRigger family...
