I'm conservative (oh yea uh-huh) and pro-gay marriage and I want your ZOT!
8/3/12 | agooga

Posted on 08/03/2012 4:19:35 PM PDT by agooga

Being a hardcore constitutionalist, conservative, agnostic AND supporter of gay-marriage is not always easy. I usually take a lot of heat from both sides, and I'm used to that.

With the Chick-Fil-A situation, I see both sides of the issue. I support CFA and I support the idea of gay marriage. What I don't support are the tactics used by the left to bully, intimidate, mock, deride and create false narratives to achieve their goal.

I'm angry at the left for creating hatred. I see and hear a lot of it because I have so many gay and liberal friends, and I hate to see them so angry and hateful, and I hate to see them putting out all of that negativity into the world. I feel like it's pollution, seeping out of their mouths and fingertips, spreading and touching us all. I feel like it's hurting us all. I know it's hurting me.

Sometimes I try to explain this to them. I have many Christian friends who are for traditional marriage, and I RESPECT their point of view. I acknowledge the fact that thousands of years of customs and tradition, millions of years of evolution, and various types of traditional upbringing and church doctrine has deeply encoded the idea of man/woman relationships and man/woman marriage on almost all of us. Some of us have been able and willing to make the leap to their side and accept the gay lifestyle as valid, but many of us have not.

My pro-gay friends equate the gay rights struggle with the cvil rights struggle, and there are SOME parallels, but not as many as they would think. Slavery, segregation and other forms of racial discrimination were actually encoded in the laws of the time. There are no laws that currently discriminate against gay people-- the issue is simply that there are no laws that specifically countenance gay people, and the right to gay marriage.

Is there prejudice from some in the hetero community? Yes. Is this prejudice based on a belief in one's intellectual or physical superiority? No. It's based on an IDEA, essentially. It's often based on the principle of morality. Traditionalists think that gay people are "doing something wrong" or "doing something that is unnatural." Some heteros think that gay people choose this lifestyle and believe they can change themselves-- but choose not to as an act of rebellion. This is not true.

Gayness is imprinted, in my opinion, just as anti-gayness is imprinted. Neither are clear, conscious choices that we make-- they are largely made for us by our genetics, upbringing, culture or some combination.

I ask that you not hate gay people for this reason.

But I also directly ask gay people and their supporters not to hate you and TRY to understand why traditionalists feel uncomfortable, threatened and even repulsed by the gay lifestyle. And rather than trying to push traditionalists off the edge of the cliff, I ask my pro-gay friends to try to lead these skeptics away from the cliff with respect, tolerance and compassion. So far, this plea has fallen mostly on deaf ears.

I operate under no illusions that we can wave a magic wand and heal the wounds of our nation, largely inflicted by anarcho-radical leftwing 60's retread tactics. But is it just me, or does no one understand that the more you push with brute force, the more the other side digs in it's heels to resist?

Gay marriage will likely be reality in America soon. That issue will be settled in the SCOTUS and it will be all over in a soundbite released on a Friday night before the justices go on summer vacation. I am sure of that. But we still have to live with each other.

So my question is this: Have these words meant anything to you? And is it worth trying to help other people understand one another a little more? Or is it none of my (or anyone's) business?

It's time to run a Conservative

Hey...you happen to have one you have been hiding under your bed?

When you find one, let me know who it is and I'll gladly vote for him.

Until then, we have a choice, four more years of the bamster or four yeas of a lib we can maybe mold and keep in line our Constitutional beliefs.

Yeah it sucks, but it is the reality...for now anyway.

This boat has been headed in the wrong direction for a long time, it isn't going to be turned around on a dime.

They've been at this for a hundred plus years, how long do you think it will take to turn it around?

That is a perfect tagline! May I borrow that?

“Being a hardcore constitutionalist, conservative, agnostic AND supporter of gay-marriage is not always easy.”

It is in fact, impossible. If you support gay marriage, you’re not a conservative, period. Since you’re agnostic, maybe this will get your attention:

http://www.uhuh.com/nwo/communism/comgoals.htm
26. Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

That should be enough right there, aside from the fact that it offends Almighty God, from whom all natural rights come.

“So my question is this: Have these words meant anything to you?”

No.

“And is it worth trying to help other people understand one another a little more?”

No.

“Or is it none of my (or anyone’s) business?

Or is “what” none of your or “anyone’s” “business”?

If you want me to understand your question, define, specifically 1. “it” 2. “anyone” 3. “business”. (Alternatively, refer to my “no” of the second question.)

Essentially a thread displaying vapid self-absorbtion. Dime a dozen.

How is a decade-long FReeper now a troll? I disagree with his views, but I understand how someone who believes in personal-responsibility and less government interference could become confused on this issue.

I came to FR a complete RINO. I didn’t know a damn thing about honest conservationism.

I honestly asked questions just like this and I received honest, thought-out lessons as replies. This is what made me a conservative. NEVER did I get slammed for saying, “this is how I’m seeing it. Is there something that I’m missing?” When I voiced my opinion and I was flat-out backwards, a half dozen FReepers would teach me - with logic and patience - the error of my ways.

And that is the FReeper that I’ve tried to become.

Now we scream ‘troll!’ and throw tomatoes. I’ve seen this more and more lately.

Where have all the TEACHERS on FR disappeared to????

When did we stop rationally defending our viewpoints and start acting like the DU?

Had this guy been with us for just a few weeks or months, I could see it. But he’s been here for 10 YEARS.

I miss my teachers.

I believe a foot fetishist should be allowed to marry any number of feet he wants, of either sex, left or right, any age, any size, any species, attached to an active blood supply or dead, amputated or operating as a functional unit, fragrant or smelly, shoe-clad or bare, club or not.

Just like Adam Smith, you don’t seem to understand yourself. He doesn’t understand that the hater is in his shaving mirror. You don’t understand that your “tolerance” is in fact intolerance. You say “heteros” and THEN you say “gay”. “Gay” is an invention, and a linguistic corruption. The word for that behavioral deviation is, GASP!, “homosexuality”. They are homosexuals, or “homos”, get it?

Where have the teachers gone? In part, they have been dying off or giving up. Others are so busy fighting the good fight, they do not have the time to post. Sadly, many no longer have the patience to teach. Any attempt to do so any more yields, at best, a vitriolic response from the prospective student. Honestly, I think many of those you would have labeled teachers are still here, they have simply become silent in self-defense.

* This is my opinion and not necessarily the truth *

If I tried to do that now, the only thing they would learn that the correct response to an argument is to tell people to go to hell and to ban them.

What is the definition of "marriage"?

It means a bonding of a man and a women. Government can not just change the definition of words by the use of law. The term of marriage is discriminatory. But words do change such as the word gay it was one of the most beautiful words in the English language. Discriminatory was also a very good word a long time ago, it meant choosy and refined.

But I would say government shouldn't be involved one way or another with what people do in private but they also can not use laws to change words.

I tried to teach some. I even would pose arguments just to encourage debate. I suppose we have had so many in the GOP-E, so many Romneyites and others, try to use such tactics to divide and conquer that debate has become suspect. I do not know the answer; I wish I did. There are some things Conservatives can disagree upon when both parties are still conservative. I do not believe that destroying the concept of marriage to appease a militant group of deviants is not one of those things.

Try listening to City on the Hill by Casting Crowns.

A conservative can’t be for gay marriage. It defies the definition of gay marriage.

I don’t hate queers and dykes. I pity them and pray for them to find peace.

I do hate the gay activists who constantly demand we approve and accept of homosexuality. I hate those bastards with a passion. I will never accept homosexuality as anything but a deviation.

I can well accept the possibility true homosexuals are wired for it and don’t choose it. There really seem to be a tiny portion of the population that is not attracted sexually to the opposite sex.

Assuming that is the case, these people are broken. They are not whole. They are deficient. They have an inborn deviation that should not be. To that extent, they deserve out love and understanding, but also counseling and support to reject and overcome their feelings.

Some people are born wired to behave with explosive violence. We don’t have activists calling for us to tolerate their “violent lifestyle”. These people overwhelmed with violent thoughts are broken, sick people and need help to live with their malady.

In much the same way, queers and dykes — real ones, not those experimenting with it because pop culture and insane liberals are pushing them to do so, or engaging it to be repulsive — they are broken sick people and need to seek help for their malady. We do them no good by codling them and accepting their sickness. The best thing we can do is disapprove of their sickness and then help them deal with it as best they can. NOT approve of it.

Further, the communist manifesto makes it quite clear that an integral means to destabilize the USA is to present homosexuality and all degeneracy as normal.

Being born a homosexual is a shame. Indulging in the sickness you were born with, rather than trying to treat the disease, is a degeneracy.

I don’t know if you are a troll or long-time conservative, but I can assure you, you are a willing dupe and tool of the communists when you advocate for “gay marriage”, which is an oxymoron anyway. Gays can’t marry. They can’t breed.

Marriage is the sacred union of two people who can mate and have children. They may choose not to have children, but marriage is the sacred union that allows two loving people to become one and create offspring.

Fags, queers, dykes and other LBGTXYZPDQs can’t have offspring. Ergo, they can’t marry. Even if America falls down the cliff of degeneracy so far that a law is eventually passed to allow them to marry, they still can’t marry in God’s eyes (not that I can or should speak for the Lord).

I knew when fags, queers, dykes and the other LBGTDV8s began their push for “rights” that they would never stop until they got the right to “marry”, have preference in hiring and have preference in adoption.

FWIW, I am not shamelessly ANTI-QUEER. They pushed me over the cliff recently in regard to their aggressive arrogance and now I want them all back in the closet where they belong. We let them out of the closet to live in peace, but it was’t enough for them to have equal rights to all else in the nation. They want PREFERENTIAL rights. They demand ACCEPTANCE.

Well I’m sick of them and I want all manner of faggotry to be stigmatized again, and back in the closet where it belongs.

I don’t hate LBGTDV8s. I pity them and hope and pray they come to terms with their disease and find peace in trying to overcome it, or at least resist it if they can’t overcome it.

I will NEVER ACCEPT IT. Never.

Gayness is imprinted, in my opinion, just as anti-gayness is imprinted.

You're wrong, it's not imprinted like being black or white. The evidence is that there are former gays while there are no former black people, no former white people. It's a behavioral choice.

I'm against gay "marraige" because I don't want my government to pretend that homosexuality is normal, and it's not normal. It's not normal for a member of any species to behave in such a manner that would cause the entire species to go extinct if done by large portions of the species population.

Your friends the liberals hate. That is what they do. Would your “friends” hate you if you did not agree with them? If so they are not your friends.

I will never accept liberals social engineering marriage and family out of existance and I will always warn young people to reject homosexual activity so they don’t die young and suffer being associated with psychopaths who hate, hate, hate.

Social Marxism is where this effort to destroy the family is born and do you know what Marxists do to Christians? They have murdered millions to cleanse humanity for their Utopia. So if you are a Christian, be careful with your “friends.” Don’t bring them around your Christian friends and expose them to murderous haters. You are hanging out with people that put Hitlers shock troops to shame in the mass murder department.

Core beliefs are not teachable past a certain impressionable age. Children are taught morality. But when an adult professes to be “conservative” and supports arch-liberal causes, that is not “teachable”. That is a core conviction. He has every right to be pro-homosexual. He approves of their behavior and that is his right. But he is not a conservative and no amount of teaching will make him one.

The gay lifestyle is not valid. Why some people feel the need to define their entire existence with the gender of human they have sex with is beyond me. Couple that with the their staunch insistence that I accept this single facet of their life, disregarding all others and there you have it. I am a homophobe!

To say that you have no conscious choice in the matter denies the free will that GOD granted you.

I didn’t join FR until I was almost 30. I had plenty of ‘core beliefs’.

But I’d come to a point in my life where I’d started to rethink things. I’d lived long enough to start to see holes in the things I’d been taught. I’d developed a new interest (homeschooling) that opened my mind to a new way of thinking.

John Stossel was older than I was when he woke up. There are many people who convert from liberalism later in life.

“If you aren’t a liberal at 20, you have no heart. If you aren’t a conservative by 30, you have no brain.”

That came from somewhere.

No. If someone is open enough to ask the question, they are old enough to be enlightened.
