VANITY: Easy things Romney can do to survive first year: Part 4 - Agency Consolidation
WileyC

An old joke goes: Everyone can make a party better: some do it when they arrive, and others do it when they leave. The same could be said for any number of government agencies.

The federal government is an unholy (and expensive) mish-mash of organizations, all of whom can arbitrarily change the way we work, we invest, and we live... with almost no oversight. It's political inexpedient to eliminate them and what Romney needs is some quick fixes that help both in the short and long term so he can build the capital he needs to implement more extensive reforms.

While the various holy cows might be immune to slaughter, the public has always shown support for consolidation for efficiency. And by efficiency, I mean budget cuts. And by budget cuts, I mean reduced power and control. The key concept is that the combined agencies should have a) less staff, b) less power, c) more oversight. Oh, and make sure someone who respects the taxpayers' hard-earned money is at least spent somewhat wisely is put in charge.

Keeping all this in mind, there are agencies that people wouldn't mind seeing hit the road. For example, everyone hates the TSA. Everyone. Give airports guidelines, have some inspectors and fine the ones that aren't up to snuff. Let them figure out the best way to handle things and the best ones can share (or sell!) their methods with the rest.

Romney needs to disband a number of cabinet level departments starting with those that have no legitimate function.Starting with the Department of Education,Next the Department of Energy,A department that is against the Use and Acquisition of American made resources. It needs to be canned.

Next would be the Department of Homeland Security and that inept group of morons in the TSA.

There are many more but right now just thinking about it is causing a mental block so I guess that's all for now.
