Tropical Storm Isaac (vanity)
8/22 | Me

Posted on 08/22/2012 12:47:54 PM PDT by jb729

This storm could potentially have a far greater effect than Akin IMO. No matter how strong it is, the media is going to turn this into one of the greatest disasters ever and probably give it to the RNC for throwing a party during it. Obama will be down there handing out water and they'll make him look like a god. People usually rally around the President during disasters. We need to pray this thing turns and stays out of the news.

Everyone knows that late August and Sept are the height of hurricane season. Why plan a convention in Florida.

All due respect... this is going to be a Cat 1. This is a fart in the breeze for most Floridians.

I’ve lived in Florida for 30+ years and been through countless hurricanes. The only people freaking out about this are the media morons here covering the convention.

Most of us are already prepared for the worst and will be sipping beers and smoking cigars since we’ll likely be out of the office for a couple days.

4 day weekend courtesy of Isaac as far as I’m concerned!

Yes.. It will be a Cat 1.. For four-days the MSM will play it up as the worst storm in history though, you can count on it.

I’m not disagreeing with you, but I’m just telling everyone to not read too much into it. It’s nothing but a little storm to the natives.

They ain’t gonna move if you’re sitting in them!

I’m putting on my swim trunks, grabbing some beers, and sitting out in the rain. Done it before and will do it again.

Have not thought of THAT.
Perfect!

Maybe it will blow a few of them out to sea.

I’m going to test the shutters. It’s been so long since we’ve shut them I want to make sure they still close. Then I might cook up some hurricane food. Or take a nap. I don’t think I’ll sit in the rain tho. It will get my Ipad wet.

The OBAMUGABE worshipping media in Miami have been going with a full court press promoting Obamugabe.

I expect it will get worse.

Same here in my state. A Cat 1 is nothing. But you may be missing the point. This could whine down to a tropical depression and head to Cancun, the media will have an excuse to cover something else other than the convention. It will be THE END OF THE WORLD as we know it with the tropical depression.

I understand the man’s point.

“Most of us are already prepared for the worst and will be sipping beers and smoking cigars since we’ll likely be out of the office for a couple days.”

I’m actually flying into FLL Sun morning and driving down to the Keys ... I’m looking forward to a nice, relaxing CAT 1 hurricane :-) (I hope anyway :-) ) .

I was in the Keys when Katrina passed by. It was only Cat 2 at the time and didn’t hit us directly, but it was still a bit unnerving waking up in your rental house that’s on stilts and nursing a hangover while the whole house was shaking. Most projection cones the night before had Katrina veering up the eastern Florida coast and “demolishing” Miama and Ft. Lauderdale ... I was down at Billie’s in Key West downing rumrunners that night.

I’ll never forget the frigging FEMA reports of impending doom being issued to the NOLA area 2 days before Katrina actually hit. They were along the lines of “expect all property to be destroyed”, “massive loss of life”, and other things you’d read prior to something like a nuclear attack. Fortunately, LA had a fantastic governor and NOLA had an awesome mayor to lay all blame solely at the feet of Bush instead of actually doing something about the problem! (sarcasm obviously implied) Who knows what they would have done had their been a Democratic President at the time (probably simply black out news or tout the merits of a leveled NOLA).

sORRY, I meant that to go to JB.

I live in FL too... the three worst weeks are the week of Labor Day plus the week before and the week after. What genius picked FL for the convention?

I’m in Tampa.

This storm has the potential to be quite the storm actually. While impact to south Florida will be minimal since it will cross over Cuba or Haiti, Northern Florida or further west in the GOM could actually face a monster storm if it tracks further west as depicted on some models.

While a weaker storm is a more likely scenario with heavy rains the gift. It's way to early to discount the extreme scenario.
