AK 47 Advice ***VANITY***

Posted on 09/15/2012 5:37:13 PM PDT by Tzimisce

Looking to buy an AK 47 - not one of the Romanian ones either.

Is there any online gun stores anyone would recommend?

I do not live in California.

I have a MAK90 and it is flawless. The AK is a great WTSHTF gun but I would also look into building an AR with a poly lower receiver or look into a Ruger Mini-14 or 30. You can find police seconds in the Mini and you can build an AR for under $500.

That’s old news. They’ve dramatically improved that rifle. Read about it on the site I linked.

The standard saiga triggers for the 7.62, 5.45, and 5.56 models are decent enough. The trigger for the .308 is terrible. I replaced the fcg (counts as 3 parts) and stock (1 part) on my 7.62 to achieve the correct number of US compliance parts...You need to replace at least 4 foreign parts with US parts if you modify a stock saiga and make it truer to original form.

A buddy took in a fal at his shop a few months ago when this subject came up. One dumba** regulation.

Romanian is better than Chinese.

Just search “online gun auction sites”.

Yeah, it’s a dumb regulation, but you do not want to be on the wrong side of it with the BATFE. I actually did overkill on my rifle and replaced the handguards as well to make it 5 US replacement parts.

Yugos are fine rifles, especially their milled receiver, but they don’t have chrome-lined barrels....so, no corrosive ammo...unless you want to be cleaning them immediately after firing them.

Any problems with the Sig 551? I have a new one, and haven’t fired it yet?

Works for me. Upgrades make it a spooky looking black gun that all the leftards hate! A flash hider and maybe a bayonet lug and it'll be finished. 3 different types of magazines work fine, every time. The only one that stuffs up occasionally is the drum and thats just cause I'm having too much fun shooting to wind the spring.

I have not researched that particular rifle, but would be interested to hear your thoughts after you’ve had some range time with it.
