SNL SPOOFS THE ‘ROMNEY KILLED MY WIFE’ AD: ‘DIDN’T EVEN COVER HIS MOUTH WHILE SNEEZING’
The Blaze ^ | September 16, 2012 | Madeleine Morgenstern

Saturday Night Live spoofed the infamous “Romney killed my wife” ad with its own version featuring a fired steelworker whose wife went in for heart surgery. Only when Mitt Romney stopped by the hospital, he wouldn’t even cover his mouth while sneezing.

“Mitt Romney stopped by the hospital room to tell us we no longer had health insurance. As he was talking we could see he had a really bad cold, he was coughing and sneezing and everything,” said steelworker Dan Whitehead, played by Bill Hader.

“And I said to him, my wife is sick, would you mind covering your mouth if you’re going to be doing it?” he continued. “I mean come on, my wife just had heart surgery and now she’s going to get your cold too? At least use a tissue.”

HA HA, Good for them!

They really should stick to the political stuff, they’re quite good at it.

And fair too, I’d say.

I still remember that bit from last time when the moderator at a debate asked “Obama” if he needed a pillow. LOL, that cracked me up, too bad the media pretty much topped it in real life.

I still miss MAD TV.

They had a great bit they did (it was rather racy, I must say) with “Obama” and “Hillary” in a sort of erotic video after they made up after the primary. That was very good too.

Next thing you know SNL will have Ryan saying, “I can see Russia from my front door.” and MSNBC will be reporting the next morning that Ryan actually said it. They attributed the Tina Fey line to Sarah Palin again week before last.

Not good enough.

Their helping destroy Sarah Palin placed them firmly beyond redemption.

They absolutely demolished Romney in the opening skit though....they had the Obama character doing a speech admitting how much he sucked but he was the better alternative and he would switch over to a Romney or Ryan rally and had them being complete total idiots.

I’m watching right now. It makes me so mad how they are trying to destroy Mitt Romney with the only way they know how...trying to make him look stupid...how many Republicans have they done this to...Bush..Palin...now Romney. They don’t see how absolutely ridiculous they are.

The skit had Romney trying to give a high-five to a guy who Romney finally came to the realization had no arms.

So he head butted him instead.

Now, who is more likely to actually do that?

Romey or Joe (Stand Up, Chuck) Biden?

Classic projection.

I can’t ever get the NBC vid to work. Just a black screen.

The whole show is not funny. In order for political comedy to work it has to have some base of truth. none.

I don’t mind these things as long as they make fun of the democrats too.

I’ll bet the comedians of the nation get down on their knees every night and pray that Romney will be elected.

He’ll be so easy to mimic and they won’t feel constrained from mocking him.

Here’s a funny story from years ago, but I’ll tell it, not really off topic too much.

First I should say that my brother was the comedian of our family and he was a pretty good mimic. He was rather a liberal but I think if he was still with us today he’d be with US if you know what I mean. He had a fake Reagan message on his answering machine for a while, just funny, not disrespectful.

Anyway...you’ll remember that Dana Carvey had a bit of a hey day from portraying Bush, the elder (which Bush got such a kick from he invited Carvey to the WH, iirc, since Republicans actually have senses of humor). I saw Carvey on with Johnny Carson who asked him how he came up with this great imitation of President Bush. Carvey said “oh, it’s easy it’s 1/2 Mr. Rogers and 1/2 John Wayne.”

A few days later I was telling my brother about this, but I could only remember the Mr. Rogers part. I said “1/2 Mr. Rogers and 1/2....I can’t remember!” and my brother said “John Wayne.” and I said “oh, you saw him” And my brother said “no, but that’s how you do George Bush”.

I feel like my brother would be working on his Romney imitation right now, and it would be killer. It would definitely include a lot of “Anne and I.....”

” The skit had Romney trying to give a high-five to a guy who Romney finally came to the realization had no arms.”

That’s a Bidenism!

Jeez, they are so transparent.

...how many Republicans have they done this to...

They started with Gerald Ford tripping down the stairs of Air Force One. An astute Secret Service agent wrestled the stairs to the ground.

I heard that Lorne Michael and the SNL writers are having a hard time getting an edge on Obama. If they need any ideas they just need to browse around on FR. Jay Pharoh did good job of impersonating BO.

“I don’t mind these things as long as they make fun of the democrats too.”

They never really make fun of Obama in a way that makes him look like an incompetent boob.

I understand. The Obama administration really is no laughing matter.

If they didn’t lampoon Zero for his connection with this, then all SNL has done is reinforce the original message — and that is exactly SNL’s intent.

Thanks barmag.
