For many years, I thought you were a bit of a nut. A very INTELLIGENT nut, but a nut nonetheless. Your constant harping about Gramscian politics was, to my mind, weird a little paranoid.
It turns out you were one hundred percent right. The move to destroy America has been very below-the-surface, highly organized, and extremely effective ... and the model has been, indeed, Antonio Gramsci's.
From the work Notes on Saul Alinsky and Neo-Marxism:
Remember that the primary influence for Obama's strategy comes from Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals." With that in mind..."Alinsky's tactics were based, not on Stalin's revolutionary violence, but on the Neo-Marxist strategies of Antonio Gramsci, an Italian Communist. Relying on gradualism, infiltration and the dialectic process rather than a bloody revolution, Gramsci's transformational Marxism was so subtle that few even noticed the deliberate changes.
Like Alinsky, Mikhail Gorbachev followed Gramsci, not Lenin. In fact, Gramsci aroused Stalins's wrath by suggesting that Lenin's revolutionary plan wouldn't work in the West. Instead the primary assault would be on Biblical absolutes and Christian values, which must be crushed as a social force before the new face of Communism could rise and flourish. Malachi Martin gave us a progress report:
"By 1985, the influence of traditional Christian philosophy in the West was weak and negligible.... Gramsci's master strategy was now feasible. Humanly speaking, it was no longer too tall an order to strip large majorities of men and women in the West of those last vestiges that remained to them of Christianity's transcendent God."
This excerpt is the bread-and-meat section that tells me that you were prescient and well-versed in the tactics of our enemy. If there is any excuse on my part, I have only one: That which Matt Bracken refers to as the 'normality bias'. I am biased, as are most, to believe things will 'stay normal' and to discount sweeping conspiracies.
But I have awoken. Is it too late, I do not know. Can one man make a difference, I am unsure. Will it get much worse in America, absolutely.
So, this is an open letter to you to acknowledge my being incorrect, you being correct, and to ask you what a nation does to unwind this horrifying and seemingly inexorable push to Marxist/Fascist control.
Nice to see you woke up on this...
The solution to this is sooooo damn clear, that it cannot be seen, as it is clear enough to be transparent...
The answer is strict constitutionalism..
Now, we will have libs shouting from the rooftops that they are for this...
We will also have conservatives shouting the same thing from a different rooftop..
Now, here is the dirty little secret.. the constitution, as written, is not a liberal document. It is not a conservative document either..
The constitution, applied as written, would piss off just as many conservatives as it would liberals..
To prove this point, have a conservative take their favorite issues, and find where in the constitution this issue is a power granted to the federal government..
Vast majority of these issues cannot be found in the constitution, yet you hear the chime for more laws, more restrictions on our god given rights, and more infringement on our liberties. This comes from both sides of the political spectrum.
People just need to shut off their own pre-conceived notions of what is right and what is wrong, and think for themselves, always using the constitution as your political guide.
But, the limbaugh, hannity, levin wing will continue to allow others to do their thinking for them.
And herein lies the problem we face as a group. Critical thinking skills are all but gone. As a race ( and yes, american is a race ) we have gotten just plain lazy.
Groupthink is so much easier than doing it ourselves.
The fear of being labeled an “outcast” or a “non-conformer” is so prevalent that is has rendered even the most highly motivated person silent.
The way to restore your own critical thinking is to first shut off the AM radio.
Instead of arguing with and slandering the people that buy into the constitution as written, just listen to them and apply the constitution test to what they are saying.
You will begin to be surprised at what you learn.
Accept nothing from anyone at face value. Figure it out on your own. It is quite a refreshing feeling.
The way out is right in front of our eyes, always has been and always will be.
People just have to wake up.
Good Morning Laz.
I can’t figure out my registry on her hang-out. Would one of you ping her?
A prophet is not without honor save in his own country....
Great post, Laz. All very true statements.
However, your change of tone concerns me, — I mean, you’re still hit it, right?
Another example of your ‘slow to come around’ understanding of things...
“For many years, I thought you [Askel5] were a bit of a nut. A very INTELLIGENT nut, but a nut nonetheless. Your constant harping about Gramscian politics was, to my mind, weird, a little paranoid.”—Laz
I've been migrating to the view. Here's an editorial that shows I've been on track for a while now.
In me, you have a powerful writer and a good generator of ideas.
Great post, Laz. It takes a big person to admit they've been wrong. I can't speak for Askel, but the one thing all of us can do is PRAY.
I believe God blessed our nation once. He is waiting for us to come back to Him. Prayer will help do that. "Ask and you shall receive."
For Catholics (or anyone else who believes), see tagline.
Here's my perspective on the Gramscian meme and methodology: neither Gramsci nor any of his acolytes, adherents and fellow travelers - Marcuse, Lerner, Alinsky, the Cloward-Piven duo, et al - truly understood just how successfully how their ideas have been co-opted, compromised and hijacked by the will to power driven monsters who now are within months of achieving total control of the apparatus of the American state.
These are the eliminationists, the killers without conscience about which I have written. We can scarcely comprehend their desire and yes, their need to revel in mass murder, slaughter and atrocity for its own sake. Those who who think that way are the product of a toxic convergence of two vast cultural currents - one with its roots in Bronze Age antiquity: Quigley's Pakistani-Peruvian Axis. The other, what I believe to be a product of the fall of the Roman Empire and its subsequent failure to rebuild itself: the Scandinavian-Slavonic axis.
It's a civilization-destroying, freedom crushing combination of the psycopathy and cruelty of the former and the nihilism and hatred of this world of the latter. Both share the outloook that treats human beings as things animals or machines. Both share the desire for power as the means and slaughter and atrocity as the highest expression of their values. This is the madness that haunts the modern world today. This is what inhabits the imaginations of those for whom Marxist mountebanks like Obama are merely the front men.
George Orwell, speaking through O'Brien in h 1984 exposed this monstrous mindset:
"Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating? It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but more merciless as it refines itself. Progress in our world will be progress toward more pain."
"Never again will you be capable of ordinary human feeling. Everything will be dead inside you. Never again will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. You will be hollow. We shall squeeze you empty and then we shall fill you with ourselves."
"The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just round the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power."
I was writing on Facebook with a friend who actually sparked this thread. In one response, I wrote:
But those, while somewhat effective, are not nearly as effective as a return to God's grace.
I agree with you about the [the need of the GOP to embrace God and Christianity more]. However, here's the current lay of the land: We who embrace God are now the minority and those who embrace pleasure and wanton sex and self-seeking and glorification of the self, are the majority.
So, should Republicans embrace a Godly message, they'd be 'laughed out of church'. This cannot be a top down effort. This has to be bottom-up.
That means ALL the responsibility is OURS. For example, today you made a large difference in my life. You enrolled me to your cause. Keep speaking the truth, and you will gain more warriors. I will do the same. IT IS UP TO US.
In the time allotted to him, ETL, the author (Skousen) of your Post #5 listing certainly did his part toward that restoration, publishing many books, study courses and seminars, etc., designed to enlighten the minds of current generations to their nation's founding ideas. In doing so, he used the Founders' own words, not the mistranslations of them which had become common in revisionist histories.
May the hand of Divine Providence, so obvious to those who gathered here from 1620 to 1787, so enlighten the minds of current generations about their liberty, and the determined and concerted efforts to "transform" America from a place of liberty back to the Old World ideas from which it arose, that there may be a "new burst of freedom" in this land, casting off the bonds which threaten to enslave future generations.
I'm not trying to offend. I'm actually trying to suggest ways to be more effective.
Let's say I wrote some really great stuff, but it was in this really hard-to-read, small font. Wouldn't you reach out to me to increase the effectiveness of my message?
Following your spiritual journey here is remarkable.
You have our attention.
No more remarkable than everyone else's bro. But if I have your attention, good; let me utilize it to organize a group of spritual warriors.
” I agree with you about the [the need of the GOP to embrace God and Christianity more]. However, here’s the current lay of the land: We who embrace God are now the minority and those who embrace pleasure and wanton sex and self-seeking and glorification of the self, are the majority.

Excellent reasoning, Laz.

Obviously, after the 60s failures (Weather Underground, etc), a violent revolution was no longer a serious possibility --that the commie left would try to achieve the same through gradual, peaceful means (infiltration of schools, churches, media, entertainment, on and on).
Certainly, there are Biblical examples of nations that were warned of their imminent destruction by God through the prophets, and of nations that repented and avoided that destruction. Ninevah being warned by Jonah is an example. He didn't even tell them to repent, but only told them of God's coming wrath. They took it upon themselves to repent and seek God's forgiveness which He granted.
The United States is a different story. The Bible prophecies are already written and will happen. If the U.S., currently the most powerful and imposing nation on Earth, is not in those prophecies, then our fate is sealed. Repentance now will save individuals, but not our nation.
As Christians and patriots we have to ask ourselves if we really want America to continue in her current form? Our direction as a nation seems to be a headlong flight from righteousness into utter corruption, the kind of corruption (child murder, homosexuality, lawlessness, etc.) for which God destroyed many ancient nations.
Does anyone honestly see a turnaround on the horizon considering the moral decline of our nation? Or are we heading into the logical outcome of a depraved hatred of God that would explain America's absence from Bible prophecy?
I'm not suggesting that we surrender, but regardless of America's future, we need to remember:
1. who will ultimately win (God Almighty)
2. whose side we should be on (His)
3. that we need to be about our Father's business (spreading His Gospel, living in righteousness, helping the helpless)
4. that our best fighting is always done from our knees.
I had a Poly Sci professor, a dedicated communist, who believed Gramsci was the architect of Western Socialism. He traced the thinking of the intellectuals at the Frankfurt School and later at American universities back to Gramsci. The socialists planned and executed their revolution right under our noses, taking over Western institutions without firing a shot.
Great post Laz.
I remember her from my early days here in ‘99.
Regarding the state of our nation, I keep the following quote in mind:
“God doesn’t require us to succeed; he only requires that you try.” —Mother Theresa
The three quotes; Carroll, Henry and Adams...profound. I know that in some ways our Founding Fathers were “just men” with human frailties, but they were also giants. Giants in a way the modern liberal mind simply cannot grasp.
Strange to remember that “liberal” once meant “people who advocate liberty.” A one-word definition of our Founding Fathers that has been so corrupted that it no longer has application in the way it was intended.
I wonder why that is amusing? I always found it repulsive and disgusting.
So glad to hear your thinking about this Laz. I look forward to your posts because of the off the wall, out of the box, bizarre humor, but I cringe a little at the suggestiveness of some of it.
What the heck is so hard to read about my posts? I even highlight in bold the more important parts. As I said earlier, we have grown seriously lazy intellectually. This is the reason why Glenn Beck adds in the dramatics--to keep audience members with short attention spans interested and/or entertained long enough to learn something.
Right. islam is a tool.
Their use of islam, energy resources, turmoil, war, etc., to bankrupt this country.
We are no longer locally owned and operated.
Speaking of old timers with their own particular insights and great observations... hat-tip to you.
Now, the name and exact phrase escapes me at the moment, so please take this one in spirit..
“This constitution is for a moral and just people, It will work for no other”..
Conservatives and Liberals take this phrase to mean that the fed must regulate morality, that it must protect the people from themselves.
The truth is quite the opposite.
True spiritual morality cannot be changed in a person.
Politically motivated morality is subjective. It is subjective to whoever holds power at that particular time. The framers recognized this, and that is why morality is not in the constitution. Civil rights are.
Once this premise is accepted, then and only then can change begin.
Where does it begin? The easier question to ask is where does it NOT begin.
It does NOT begin in the halls of congress, or at the presidents desk.
It DOES begin in your own heart first, then in your own home. It then progresses to your extended family, then to your friend and aquantances.
When, not if but when, you run into the person or peoples that place all their trust in politics, that is when you ask them to apply the constitution test.
You do not need to argue, or debate, or go point for point with them. Just ask them to apply the constitution test.
This alone will plant the first seeds of doubt.
D-o.....if I may...
I, for one, do recognize that the abyss is nigh and the point of no return has been reached...
But the “I’d hit it” is not taken seriously, is a sophomoric joke and provides some much needed levity on FR for some of us...
“Obviously, after the 60s failures (Weather Underground, etc), a violent revolution was no longer a serious possibility —that the commie left would try to achieve the same through gradual, peaceful means (infiltration of schools, churches, media, entertainment, on and on).”
This is the way they do it. I learned this in college and I’m not surprised as to what’s going on.
I will say one thing that seems to get over looked and that is Individualism. We are a nation of individuals and in the Left’s political philosophy the individual is non-existent.
Made the observation; will let it go now. Discard or embrace the observation at your pleasure.
And I would add...pray to St. Michael the Archangel, too.
I have posted similar quotes to the below over the years.
The “subtle” takover of this country started way back in 1917. There have been “hints” along the way.
Khrushchev said in the 1950s that, paraphrased, “Your children will be taught and neither you nor they will know that they are being taught”. I remember it because I heard him say it, translated.
The “Cold War” myth was just a diversion.
The msm and the lefties who were already here said, “Ah, that’s just rhetoric,” and did their best to dismiss the quote all the while knowing that it was 100% accurate.
Was everyone asleep?
Thanks for the post Laz. Got more reading to do because of it, but it’s all to the good.
of interest ping
In college? Really? Most colleges are left-wing indoctrination centers. You were lucky to have at least one honest professor. :)
Welcome to the club, Laz...
What the heck is so hard about drinking from a fire hose?
Thanks. I need cookies.
Good to have you with us Laz. I’ve been a ‘nut’ for decades now. I find it to be gratifying to see more people pull the blinders from their eyes.
Well put. Seriously, I'm not tryin' to be a d**k, just tryin' to offer constructive ideas.
It's amazing this thread is so active. Apparently Askel5 is truly missed.
Is it really that hard for you to read or understand a few paragraphs of text?
We are indeed being played. We NOW HAVE, present-day in America, a fascist system, and it is fast progressing to full-blown Communism.
“In college? Really? Most colleges are left-wing indoctrination centers. You were lucky to have at least one honest professor. :)”
Yes I was lucky and they were rather good instructors. All the did was instruct and let us make up our own mind.
” The socialists planned and executed their revolution right under our noses, taking over Western institutions without firing a shot.”
The takeover of the left in higher education really began in the early 60’s. By a stroke of luck, the counterculture of hippies, and the wholesale trashing of all of our institutions greatly aided the left in their bid to control
thought in our universities.

The effort which resulted in effectively "erasing the American memory" (L. Cheney?) by removing from the nation's textbooks any ideas whose roots were in Judeo-Christian thought, under the guise of their own distorted interpretation of Jefferson, has been a most damaging tactic which enabled many other assaults on the Constitution's protections.
Recently, I have posted references to a Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon (1876 - Declaration of Independence) by Rev. Benjamin W. Arnett, delivered at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Urbana, Ohio. Already, at that date, he identified a movement whose leaders self-described as "liberals" had dedicated themselves to bringing about radical changes, which were listed in his Sermon. In a section titled, "The Danger to Our Country," Arnett listed the goals of that group. We can read that list and see that, in 2012, the goals have been achieved, for the most part.
Arnett's is a remarkable tracing of the history of nations, especially of American liberty, and should be read by all of us today. He was an Ohio Legislator and Minister and an obvious scholar. His theme was, "Righteousness Exalteth a Nation, but Sin is a Reproach to Any People." It is available at the Library of Congress, American Memory Section, "African-American Pamphlets from the Daniel A. P. Murray Collection," 1820-1920. Once on the site, click on "Read full text."
The roots of the move to take America off its firm foundations were laid early, and its enemies have worked on the dismantling by using self-described "intellectuals" as "useful idiots" in the destruction.
Beck is running a documentary on ‘The Project’ on his ‘Blaze’ network at 8 EST tonight and tomorrow. Channel 212 on DISH, I believe...
