I have a bag of playing marbles, never been opened, in case you lose a few. They CAN be replaced! LOL!
I found a nice tea (”herbal infusion”) by Tazo, called Wild Sweet Orange. Not bad. And Stash makes a yummy lemon ginger tea, but don’t make it too strong: It will bite your tongue! :o]
That was pretty cute! Thanks, Thomas!
Dark and stormy night with wind gusts accurate. Instead of street lights, we have fallen tree limbs all over the place. (Haven’t been out to survey today—nothing hit the house so that’s a big blessing.)
Ohyah...I’ve needed a cat like that at times! LOL!
Have you ever read “The Sociopath Next Door”?
All’s quiet on the Southwestern Front...
Sleep was not restful, but I’m not surprised. I’m glad your house was missed by trees. :o]
When Frank and I sorted the books Sunday, I immediately chose one to read when I got home: “My Country Versus Me,” by Wen Ho Lee, the Chinese “spy” who worked at Los Alamos. It is a story in contrasts, and I feel so bad for the guy because he was so innocent.
I’m almost done with it, so if someone wants to borrow it, let me know, as otherwise, it will go to the clubhouse when I’m done with it.
Glad it’s quiet there! Quietude is vastly underrated.
Preference here is honey and warmed bourbon. Has the same effect, and usually cures most everything.
Not after you roll them in flour and fry them!
That is sad and distressing news. May your eldest brother recover, Face. He will be in my prayers.
Thanks! I appreciate that! He called last night, and said they are still waiting on test results, but that he has had three transfusions. He sounded good, but I always think when folks do that, they don’t want us to know how bad they are.
Prayers are all I can offer in the way of help for him and his wife.
Or, my fave, hot water, lemon juice, honey and whiskey. Though I hate whiskey!
Glad the storm has passed and you and yours are okay.
More prayers up for your brother. A {{{HUG}}} for you!
The years and money I spent looking for a haircut that made me look good. Then in middle age I applied a .50¢ razor to my skull and finally found "my look".
Re: Wen Ho Lee book
Currently DLing from digital library. Thanks for the suggestion!
Hot buttered rum makes you not mind having a cold. ;)
Thank you. Just checked and fed neighbor’s horse—looks like everything’s OK over there, too.
“But the idea is not Berserker rage; it’s stealth. Rather than donning armor, my soldier would strive to not be seen at all. Additionally, he cannot be disarmed, and cannot be kept in captivity. And yet, he would appear so helpless and innocent. Yet another defensive ploy.”
There’s a martial arts meditation I do while I’m walking, mostly, walking very lightly on the balls of your feet, you think of your existence as a cloud, evaporating to invisibility under sunlight.
I constantly seem to be surprising people that a 6’ 250# man is standing right next to them. I unfortunately have made a female neighbor cry out terrified more than once, so that now we make a joke where I say “look out, here I come!” and she laughs.
Of course I have no way to prove it, but I believe between a cleared relaxed mind and relaxed body language, people just don’t seem to register me when I’m in that prime relaxed state...And while in that state, it seems like people are sleepwalking to me. I’ll sometimes make a game of walking right around a person, “always on their 6”, as it were, and even giving an earlobe the tiniest touch sometimes. It would be a bad thing if a person with evil intentions could find this “zone”.
I do notice that there are other people who have this heightened awareness, but they’re very few. Walking in a crowd is sometimes like finding a path through sleepwalking cattle, and when you suddenly run into someone who is sharp and actually picking up on everything, you notice them and they notice you. Focused people are on a different frequency, slightly altered plane, or something. It makes me think of the radio mystery hero “The Shadow” who could “cloud men’s minds”, except it’s rather the reverse...everyone’s minds are already clouded, they can perceive other clouded minds, but when I become “clear”, there’s less for their customary perception of people to get a hold of, I register as a “thing in the background”, a mass like a tree or streetsign. I’m very familiar with the surprised look on someone’s face when they finally focus on me with both eyes, a “what the hell??!” expression.
I’ve also noticed an interesting phenomenon spearfishing. When I creep up on fish hanging around a piling “clear”, I manage to get much closer without alarming them. But let me see one that makes me think “I’m going to get you, you’re dinner” and they get very skittery and vanish. So, for both hunting fish and combatting humans, a hyperclear mind might have advantages beyond the norm.
Maybe something there puts a little grist in your literary mill ;^)
