Stopped at a local ezmart this morning noticed a sign offering a 10% discount if you pay by EBT. I asked the clerk if I get a discount if I pay with my own money or only if I pay using someone else's money.
Did the clerk even understand what you were talking about when you posed your question?

Our local farmer’s market does the same but their reasoning is sound.
People who use food stamps (EBT) at the farmer’s market aren’t typical food stamp users and are there to shop for bargains. They aren’t buying crap, they’re buying real food in bulk for canning and freezing to feed their families.
Personally I like the idea of food stamps being more closely tied to farming while cutting farm subsidies.
Might be the standard “cash back” deal.
The clerk rings up items you didn’t actually purchase, you swipe the card and they give you half the difference in cash, keeping the other half for themselves.
All Americans should apply for EBT cards, whether eligible or not, and appeal every rejection for as long as possible. In fact, every American should apply for every welfare program at both state and federal levels. Flood the programs with tens of millions of applications.
Cloward-Piven at it's finest. Overwhelm the system. Strangle the beast with it's own red tape.
this was not a farmers market, it was a convience store, and I don’t think the discount reasoning is sound, if they are using an ebt card they already got 100% discount cause you and I paid for it.

That’s a simple fact that most people miss.
Many food stamp recipients get welfare checks, WIC, and their children get “free” school breakfasts and lunches. No wonder obesity is the number one health problem of America’s poor.
Perhaps if the discount applied only to specific items like milk, eggs, butter, bread, peanut butter, other essential “pantry” items, maybe even some products like diapers, feminine hygiene products, baby powder, etc. BUT definitely not to cigarettes, beer, junk foods, nonessential items.
I can totally accept that there are some people who REALLY do need EBT to feed their families, and that they are dealing with tough situations. WIC is a program that even junior enlisted military use, because their salaries just aren’t adequate to provide for their young children (isn’t that a sad commentary on military life, esp. when these folks sacrifice so much for this country?). So, I can’t just throw EBT and WIC programs into a “bad” pile.
However, I do believe that better enforcement of what these programs can be used for is certainly required.
Accountability at all levels (user, provider, administrator) seems to be in radical need of overhaul.
And, maybe like medicare fraud, this is EBT fraud and that discounted money is going into a side pocket of the owner, or maybe out the back door to a “mafia” type who promises “protection” from the roving gangs who are taking over stores in places like Detroit.
Who knows in this crazy world why/how this is happening.

The filth in this administration are betting the next 4 years will give them a chance to do just that.
If everything collapses, the public will DEMAND from the current ruling elite that they do something and do something fast. It would give these sub-human vermin in the administration all the reasons they need to install their flavor of redistribution and Marxism.
If a real conservative where in the WH, collapsing the federal government might be a good thing so as to allow the country to be removed from the track heading towards Marxism and placed back on the original track set forth by the Founders.
ok first of all it is a convience store so any 10% discount is completly wiped up by the fact that the store charges huge markups over regular supermarkets, second why does someone not paying the tab deserve a break more than the guy who psying both tabs? and I have no problem with the fact that some people will need a little help to get back on their feet the problem is according to the CBO in the last 4 years foodstamp use has gone up 75% and the cost of the program has gone up 135%
