Yes but that is confounded by the Minnesota Twins (also once the Washington Senators) having won two World Series and also don’t forget the Senators won the World Series in 1924.
As a Cubs fan I must hate the Cardinals with a passion, but I’m glad they beat the Nats. They were not a mature team and by the end of the season they showed that. They started to get cocky and believe the hype. The Cardinals don’t do that, they just play and never quit. At this point though I think I want to see a Tigers-Giants WS.

Horrible night for baseball
This was one season where lack of playoff experience really counted.
1st the Orioles. It was clear they were so intimidated by the Yankees it was pathetic. Everytime the Orioles got someone on base the next batters up would be so nervous and eager they swing at anything.
Anytime an Oriole batter got 2 strikes, the Skankee pitcher would just throw a low curve ball 3 feet out of the strikezone and the Oriole batter would always swing and strike out.
If the Orioles and Nationals fought the hard fight and just lost out to the better playing team that would be one thing, but instead it was clear both just weren’t really for prime time and they embarrassed themselves. Hope neither one is around next year.

Great points. Most combinations of these teams has a great story. Giants-Yankees as an old-school NY rivalry. Tigers and Cards as a grudge match from 2006. Yankees and Ichiro getting a ring. Triple Crown winner adding a WS ring.
