The Other 9/11: Libyan Guards Recount What Happened in Benghazi
Time World ^ | October 21, 2012 | By Steven Sotloff / Benghazi

Posted on 10/24/2012 8:58:53 PM PDT by Fred Nerks

More than a month after the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, U.S. officials have yet to talk to many of the Libyan guards on duty at the American mission on that fatal evening. Fearful of reprisal from the still unknown perpetrators of the attack, the guards have gone into hiding; and their vivid recollections are giving way to a sense of abandonment by the American government, which offered them no protection from the attackers the guards believe want them dead. TIME’s Steven Sotloff has talked to the guards for their account of what happened on the night of Sept. 11, 2012 and the early hours of the day after. Five of the guards were employees of the British security company Blue Mountain, and three others were members of the Islamist-leaning February 17th militia who were tasked with providing diplomatic security for foreign missions. To protect them from possible retribution, their names have been changed. What is clear is that, as others have reported, there was no protest, simply a sudden siege of the compound; U.S. security forces–including U.S. Marines who arrived at an American safe house outside the consulate grounds–were overwhelmed and stymied; and that the looters apparently came upon the body of a still-breathing Ambassador Chris Stevens.

At around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, 2012, the four guards at the compound entrance—Nasser, Ubayd, Abdullah and Anwar–were casually eating sandwiches and talking about a recent soccer game, trying to pass the time on another monotonous night of watch duty. This one seemed no different from the others before: days and nights staring at the high walls that obscured the luxury villas in the posh Benghazi neighborhood where the American mission was located. But on this night, the silence of the secluded streets was dramatically shattered.

“First, from beyond the walls, came the yells of “God is Great!” Nasser went out to investigate. “I immediately heard RPG explosions and saw a large group heading toward us up the road,” he said. Outnumbered and outgunned, the four abandoned their posts, with Nasser and Ubayd fleeing south to what was called the C villa in the center of the compound, a building that housed the office of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was visiting from the Libyan capital Tripoli. Abdullah ran towards the cantina east of C villa where a grenade exploded nearby. “I remember the shrapnel that landed in my leg was very hot and I was shaken, a bit dizzy,” he recalled. A group of attackers then passed him on the way to encircling the cantina. They shot him twice in the leg. Others beat him so hard he lost consciousness. He awakened later in the Benghazi Medical Center.”

I wonder if “Nat Geo” and Harvey Beerstein will make this into a made for TV movie for their boss, Obambo.

they’ll need a cast of many thousands and lots and lots of Al Qaeda flags:

Note our “friends” in “Libya Shield” fly the same black flag of jihad that Al Qaeda flies. Video from June showing them in a rally in Benghazi for the implementation of sharia law. Their vehicles have Gold and Red Libya shield logos:

1. Time and distance.
2. They were on the phone to someone.
3. Everyone knew where the Americans were.
4. If all this lead was flying around, Where were the dead and wounded?
5. Notice how tribal this place is.

It had been the most lethal attack against U.S. diplomatic facilities since the 1983 Beirut embassy bombing took the lives of 63 people.

Chaos favoring extremists courtesy Hussein and Hitlery-Huma's Arab Spring the anti-secularist Islamarossa.

As shameful as Clinton's Mogadishu where his team disallowed the gunships and tanks.

As clumsy as Carter's Desert One catastrophe to rescue the hostages resulting from his alliance with Ayatollah Khomeini.

Just as Clinton allowed Iran to arm Bosnians so Hussein et Hitlery-Huma arm Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda Lite.

The poseur who claims he "got bin Laden" sowed a million bin Ladens in a fertile plot.

SENSITIVE BUT UNCLASSIFIED:

http://oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/DEI-to-BHO-10-19-2012-attachments.pdf

P 37 Aug 8, 2012, Note 5, Attacks (signed off by Stevens AKA John Christopher Stevens)

See page 45, June 5, 2012, Points 8 and 9 (signed off by Stevens) “Brigades of the Imprisoned Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman” ...down to... “that the attacks were the work of extremists who are opposed to western influence in Libya. A number of local contacts agreed, noting that Islamic extremism appears to be on the rise in eastern Libya and that the Al-Qaeda flag has been spotted several times flying over government buildings and training facilities in Derna,”

P 57, Sept 11, 2012 (day of the attack), signed off by Stevens, Section 4

****Militia commanders discuss Muslim Brotherhood, Jibril, their political aspirations, the economy, and security: In a September 9 meeting, local area militia commanders Wissam bin Ahmed (Commander, Libya Shield 1) and Muhammad al-Gharabi (Commander, Rafa’ al-Sahti Brigade, Libya Shield 2) discussed the very fluid relationships and blurry lines they say define membership in Benghazi-based brigades under the February 17, Libya Shield, and SSC umbrellas. They themselves were members of multiple brigades, they said. They debated — hotly and without resolution — about which brigades supported or opposed specific causes. They claimed to exercise “control” over Libyan Armed Forces Chief of Staff Yusef Mangoush who “depends” on them to secure eastern Libya. In times of crisis, Magoush has no other choice than to turn to their brigades for help, they said, as he did recently with unrest in Kufra. As part of this arrangement, Mangoush often provides the brigades direct stocks of weapons and ammunition, they said. Al-Gharabi and bin-Ahmed support the Libyan Muslim Brotherhood’s Justice and Construction Party backed candidate Minister of Electricity Awad Al Barasi for Prime Minister and they said that. if elected, Al Barasi would appoint Fawzi Bukatif, Commander of the February 17 Brigade, as Minister of Defense. Bukatif’s appointment would open the MOD and other security ministries and offices to plum-appointments for his most favored brigade commanders — giving February 17 and Libya Shield tacit control of the armed forces. They criticized the USG for “supporting” National Forces Alliance (NFA) leader and Prime Mininister Candidate Mahmoud Jibril. If Jibril wom, they said, they would not continue to guarantee security in Benghazi, a critical function they asserted they were currently providing. Growing problem with security would discourage foreign investment and led [sic] to persistent stagnation in eastern Libya, but the US could play a role by “pressuring” American business to invest in Benghazi***

CROSS POSTED FROM PREVIOUS THREAD

THEY CAN'T SAY THEY DIDN'T KNOW - THIS REPORT FROM ONE YEAR AGO:

Al Qaeda Plants Its Flag in Libya

"It was here at the courthouse in Benghazi where the first spark of the Libyan revolution ignited. It’s the symbolic seat of the revolution; post-Gaddafi Libya’s equivalent of Egypt’s Tahrir Square. And it was here, in the tumultuous months of civil war, that the ragtag rebel forces established their provisional government and primitive, yet effective, media centre from which to tell foreign journalists about their “fight for freedom.” "

But according to multiple eyewitnesses – myself included – one can now see both the Libyan rebel flag and the flag of al Qaeda fluttering atop Benghazi’s courthouse.

Gadhafi Loyalists Still Battling New Western-backed Rulers in Libya

Maybe her thighness and the muzzie in the white hut can persuade NATO to come back and wipe out the 70 thousand Libyans who don’t want to live under sharia law?

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2949748/posts

Will Bani Walid be turned into rubble regardless of who wins the US election? Is the West determined to hand the entire region to warlords and tribes who will not only destroy the infrastructure but each other in the process? Is the ‘arab spring’ actually a weapon against islam?

The salafist ‘straight path’ and the implementation of sharia they are so delighted about...appears to be leading to impoverishment and death, as they follow in the steps of mohammad straight back to the seventh century...killing and looting as they go.

.

- I just watched a former CIA man speak to Neil Cavuto on Fox News Channel about Obama, Paneta, Hillary, etc. -

- “BAD” and “SILLY” people who just watched for hours (in “real time”) as Ambassador Stevens and three others were tortured and died and - and King Obama & his Court did nothing to help them or to rescue them -

.

Can you imagine General George Patton saying this to General Eisenhower when US Airbourne soldiers were encircled by the Germans and freezing:

“Golly Ike!

If I take our tankers to save them we might lose some of my men!

Let’s just wait and HOPE things improve and maybe even CHANGE for the better!

Anyone want another of my beers while we eat this delicious tender Kobi beef?”

At least under Colonel “green book”, Libya was somewhat stabilized. Now lets see how many Libyans of “little faith”, feel about him being gone. The Salafist sure are having a field day in the whole region at this point.

So the message has to be, he should have been more careful who he shook hands with, they ‘rehabilitated’ him only to stab him in the back and bomb the country into rubble.

Burp. I seemed to have recovered nicely Fred. Even threw in some apple pie for desert.
Yeah. As far as I'm concerned Obama and Hillary shoved a knife in the Colonel's back and ribs at the same time. The guy was doing rather nicely on the whole for those past few years. We had dictators in Libya and Egypt that keep some form of order. Now it is all gone.
Sharia law and it's henchmen shall rule the lands. Now, we got Obama transferring weapons in many forms to the al Qaeda forces to take out yet another dictator in Syria.
And tens of millions of US voters are totally ignorant as how this is all going down.

Hi FN:

Doing some research on Benghazi. Virtually no info or interviews from eyewitnesses, but I remembered your thread.

I found these to add to the thread:

http://www.clarionproject.org/analysis/riorg-exclusive-did-turkey-play-role-benghazi-attack

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/oct/27/libyan-witnesses-recount-organized-benghazi-attack/print/

I knew I had read somewhere a ehile back that it was highly unlikely that The Turk official could have left Steven’s compound without soon discovering that something was amiss. Now that we have Hick’s testimony, we can be almost certain that the Turk official never called Stevens to warn him of what he saw.

hmm...
