I for one am sick of the tired claim that things with the word "black" in them are all negative, and therefore racist, while all things with the term "white" in them are universially positive, and therefore equally racist.

Just a few moments thought produces these counter examples:

A profitable business is "In the Black" (and the source of the "Black Friday" name)

A Soiree of the very highest class is "A Black Tie Affair"

A clear and unmistakable rule or fact is said to be "Black Letter", as "It's Black Letter Law..."

To cover up a shameful act in a sleazy way is to "White wash the affair"

A useless and unwanted item is a "White Elephant"

The universal symbol of surrender is a "White Flag"

I am sure others here can supply additional examples.

Being black balled was a form of ostracism... A black day in history...

“Black Russian” - drink
“Black Forest” - a place in Germany
“Black Forest Cake” - the best in the world
“Black and Tan” - Scottish clan colors
“Black Irish” - someone else can explain what this term means
“The Blue-Black Jews of Greece” - a specific group of Jews who lived in Greece many centuries ago
“Blackout” - lack of lights by accident or deliberate action of turning off lights
“Brownout” - similar but less severe
“Brownfields” - an environmental term referring to a certain type of pollutes land/area
“Black and White floor tiles” - now called “Totally Dark and Caucasian/Milky Colored floor tiles”
“Blackeye” - Now known as a “Person of color damaged eye area”
“Blackeyed Peas” - a species of peas that you cannot see at night

“Black Cat” - now called a feline which one is unable to see at night

and the list goes on.
