Today, people don't take care of their children, let alone their pets.

A-men! People (I use the term loosely...they're from New York) in my neighborhood boot their cats out the door when their novelty as a kitten wears off...they wind up with me because I am the only one who will give them shelter and food. Red Hampshire winters are rough on animals, and I'm not going to let them suffer. Food bill is starting to get rough, though...

Why not let the cat out to chase it off?

Because I trim her claws and she has nothing to defend herself with..........

For some reason, people seem to think that farmers are excited to have all those stray cats that people drop off. It is my opinion, that many of them end up the victims of a shotgun because farmers have too many cats to care for and they have no way of knowing if the cats are healthy or diseased.

Its also against the law to abandon animals like this, if I’m not mistaken.

Do you know if the cat belongs to anyone? It could be a stray who’s decided to stay in your complex because someone (possibly a few someones) started feeding it.

No I don't know who it belongs to and your additional statement adds to the conundrum.

I like this poster. It makes me sick to see house kitties carrying baby rabbits or baby birds in their mouths. It is their instinct, I know, but not necessary for them to survive.

Also, I have almost wrecked trying to avoid a house cat that ran in front of me. People need to be responsible!

One day your cat is going to get out too. They always do.

Sorry but you're wrong in this case. My cat will not leave the confines of my house, no matter how many doorwalls or garage doors are left open........In fact, I can't even physically carry her outside without her fighting me to put her down so she can run back inside. Nope, you're wrong here.

I just happened to be in the truck on the way to the pup’s cold laser treatment and suddenly laughed like a jackass for no apparent reason.

(Note to self; do not spook driver while he’s battling heavy holiday traffic)

I think you should give your cat to someone who won’t keep him.locked in the house 24/7.

Cats should be free to roam. That is what cats do. You should not try to own a cat. A cat is supposed to own you. Give him to someone who will give him his freedom. That will solve your dilemma. Then get yourself a poodle or a chihuahua .

Look around and find out who just got married. They are on their honeymoon and someone who doesn’t know the rules is houseitting.

I bet they come home tonight or tomorrow.

Stuff like this doesn’t just happen out of the blue. It’s that or someone just had their brother move in. If there is anything that a brother would really care about, it his sisters cat. Especially if it whining in the apartment. Having her cat bother you would be better than it bothering him.

Right now I'm thinking that if I trap the cat tonight I'm better off driving it 10 miles away and letting it go and permanently putting an end to this problem.

That may put an end to your problem, but it's also the reason I have 25 cats on my farm.

If you take any advice here and it works, lemme know.

I've got a bobcat that strolls across my property every few days...

" Why?"

Because the streets in urban neighborhoods are littered with dead cats that have been killed by vehicles...

Hype much? I've lived in urban areas for most of my life, and have only rarely seen a dead cat in the street. Run over possums, on the other hand, are common.

My wife and I have had cats for the eighteen years we've been together, and they've all been outdoor kitties. We've noticed that they roam, but never that far from home. For the most part, they hang out in the yard, because that's where it's safe, and that's where their food bowl is.

We've also never seen a rodent in any house we've lived, though I used to get plenty of them in the house before I had cats.

This is true. All cats have the instinct to stalk and CHASE, but being taught by momma kitty is what makes then an effective HUNTER.

Things like how to make the actual kill rather than “play it to death” are a part of this. Not so important if a mousey toy, but very important when dealing with wild prey that can escape if not quickly dispatched.

Is your cat fixed ? And what is the gender ? Spayed and neutered indoor cats in my experience don’t normally get agitated to that extent because a cat somewhere on the other side is in their territory.

leave them alone unless they are bothering you.

Being awakened at 2:00 a.m. by a hissing and howling indoor cat at an outside intruder on my deck certainly bothers me.........Would it not you?

In my opinion, it is unnatural and cruel to not permit cats to go outside

Perhaps in a country environment but not in suburban communities. They have just as much chance dodging cars as squirrels do..........
