Sorry for your loss.
Doggie ping.
My condolences for the loss of your dog. My daughter lost her black standard rescue poodle a couple of years ago at age 16 1/2 for the same reason. She was devastated.
Check out the breeders carefully. My daughter finally adopted a red standard poodle after a lengthy search, but found a lot of eccentric breeders in the mean time. Then (after a year with the new dog) somebody gave her a black standard female poodle after the previous owner died suddenly. So, now she has 2 dogs.
But, I could write a book about some of the people she dealt with to acquire those 2 dogs! I think she could have adopted a child easier.
I live in Gloucester County... I have a neighbor who walks two Standards.. one gray and one black. Nexty time I see her (don`t know her), I`ll ask. Hope that helps.
BTW all colors are great, but mY beloved black who passed away 6 years ago didnt photograph well. Bad lighting in NJ.
white and silver are more photogenic
Best dog I ever had or ever will have was a standard poodle. Smart, protective and loyal, able to swim to a depth of about 10 ft and retrieve rocks or golf balls. Amazing dogs, sorry for your loss and best of luck with your search.
Good breeders know good breeders and are always interested in talking to people who really care about their breed.
I’m much too far away to help, but your loss saddens me. You might try to hunt for a poodle rescue group in the area.

So sorry for your loss! I still miss my Briard, Pandemonium. I’m 6’2” tall, and Pandy would stand up, put his front paws on my shoulders, and look me straight in the eye. Scared the cr@p outa some guys that wanted to rob my old farmhouse. I like Poodles that aren’t given the “standard” haircut.
We got a very nice healthy and well cared for standard poodle from this place:
http://www.familyaffairstandards.com/
It is just northeast of Raleigh. I was somewhat doubtful until I visited the place. They do a good job and have a good selection.
We bought a red standard there. He has been great.
Visit the place. Notice how clean it is. My wife wanted a red standard. They had several and she walked out with the biggest, wiggliest one. He just turned 10 months old.
When we got him we had a 6 year old spaded Weimaraner bitch. I was somewhat skeptical about how she was going to receive this new pup. She loves him even though he aggravates her to no end. My theory is that she wanted to be a mama and now she has a surrogate kid.
Anyway, these folks are worth a look. I know nothing about the other places recommended here so they may be just as good.
Sorry for your loss. About a month ago we lost our 6 YO Belgian Tervuren (Larsen) to the same thing. We are picking up a Tri-Colored Rough Coat Collie male puppy next weekend. Hope you have success in your search.
I’m sorry to hear about your loss. You might want to check into prophylactic gastropexy, which can be done at the time your pup is spayed/neutered. It is not 100% effective in preventing gastric dilatation/volvulus, but pretty close. More and more military working dogs are getting prophylactic gastropexies to save the government money overall -— or at least that was the case before I retired. Any deep chested breed is at risk, and I lost a Borzoi of my own to GDV.
Good luck with your new puppy!!!
Check poodle rescue. Florida Poodle Rescue has had quite a few puppies lately. So sorry for your loss. I know only too well the profound sorrow.
Be very careful when you deal with breeders. I am sure you have heard of puppy mills. Make sure you check out the breeders credentials with the AKC. No, I don’t belong to their organization but I do know they are very careful about accreditation of breeders.
I typed in my MD address since it’s not far from you; adjust accordingly.

Of course there are other registries and databases to help. I would check the Poodle Club of America.
Good luck. I personally cannot go from 1 dog to another just like that! I’d probably wait a year.
