Usually I am pretty cynical but this seems to be the real deal...

But Foster claims DePrimo had no idea he was being photographed: "The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching."

Thanks for the post.

It heart warming to see this approaching the Christmas season.

It is sad that some commenter assumed it was staged.

God Bless the U.S. God Bless his children who give and receive kindness and support for each other.

“I expect to see this man in the next McNaughton painting!”

Amazing. The photo as is; looks just like a painting. A picture of a servant of God.

It's hrd not to be cynical now days, but I try when I can to think of these words:

Hub McCane: “Sometimes, the things that may or may not be true are the things that a man needs to believe in the most: that people are basically good; that honor, courage, and virtue mean everything; that power and money, money and power, mean nothing; that good always triumphs over evil; and I want you to remember this, that love, true love, never dies. You remember that, boy. Doesn’t matter if they are true or not. A man should believe in those things because those are the things worth believing in.”
From the movie 'Secondhand Lions (2003)

This is wonderful, and I have to believe that this kind of thing happens much more than we ever hear about. I believe that Americans, the kind that the left thinks ‘aren’t being fair’ are generally very charitable. I also think that a helping hand by a charitable heart is a much more effective means of addressing our social ills than coercive fiscal policy and taxation.

I am 54 years old and have spent my life from the age of 17 in the military. I have seen death and destruction up close and yet, today, looking at this photo, I have tears in my eyes.

You are right. I did not realize that is what triggered my idea.

When I first read this headline I thought it meant something else entirely. Up here giving someone the boots is assault. Good on this cop.

I often see evidence of private acts of human kindness here where I live.

There are a number of people here who often help others with no desire for recognition.

Sense of community is still strong here.

Your words did the same to me...want to bet the man is a veteran?

I think I will go to my Veteran’s Thrift Store today and offer food and some gifts I received the past year, that I really don’t need.

Florida seems to not need boots...but I will do something!

This photo is obviously a fake. The cop tore off the homeless man’s boots to search for contraband and then confiscated them as evidence..../s
