Have you heard Tubberville left TX TECH this afternoon?
He’s going to Cincinnati. Tech suits are reportedly shocked, but are wanting to look at A&M offensive coordinater, Cliff Kingsbury, a former Tech quarterback, who coaches our newest Heismann winner.

Yeah, I remember hearing about that when it happened. I don’t think it was a major story in the sports world since Manziel was an unknown at the time, but College Station is not too terribly far from where I live, so our local news covered it. I have been aware of his excellent performance on the field this year and had nearly forgotten about his arrest last summer. Once I was reminded of that incident, I remembered the reports that he’d also been caught shoplifting when he was still in high school in Kerrville. Twice, if I’m not mistaken. Very disappointing. It is this garbage in his past that kept me from rooting for him in the Heisman race (well, that stuff and the fact that I am a Baylor and Texas fan!). Hopefully, though, he has grown up a lot since then. If nothing else, he surely knows that the sports world is now watching him and he will keep his nose clean.

Now that he won everyone in college football that plays against Johnny Manziel will be taking extra shots against him. I think he should turn pro right now before his carrier is ended by cheap shots in college football that is to be expected

It's all downhill for Manziel now. This was very much like Obama winning the Nobel Prize just for placing first in an election.

If beating Alabama on the road is all it takes, then LSU's placekicker should have won it last year.

If A&M was still in the Big 12, he would be just another Big 12 “system quarterback.” Now that A&M is in the SEC, offensive production numbers suddenly matter.

I will have to say that Tuberville, oops! Tubberville caught me completely off guard. I had no idea he was going anywhere much less to what most would consider a lower tier program.

There is always the chance that he did not like the smell of feed lots but most likely someone at TT irritated him. I am sure that is the only reason Steve Spurrier left his alma mater at Florida.

Now I wonder if Neal Brown will go to Kentucky as OC.

No matter who wins, someone somewhere will scream, “RACISM!” Bet on it.

I would have voted for Klein but can’t argue against Manziel.

Way back around 1988 or 89, I would have voted for Brett Favre. Southern Miss was pushing for him for Heisman. He frankly should have gotten it but no QB from USM was going to win that year.

If Johnny Football wasn’t in the SEC he never would have had the chance to beat that despicable Bama.

Underclassmen who win the Heisman don't necessarily do much later on. I recall the running back from Ohio State who won it twice--but I don't recall his name offhand, which tells you how much he ever did in the pro's.

I think the Cowboys did Ok with Demarcus Ware from Troy. He was not even considered for the Heisman.

Dumbheaded post.

“Beating Alabama on the road” was only one game in a stellar season and but one of Manziel’s highlights.

You obviously haven’t watched the kid’s stunning plays, game after game, or seen his stats for the season.

They were calling him Johnny Football long before he landed in Tuscaloosa.
