$35 to Join the NRA for 1 year. I just did it.

Allowed my NRA membership to expire a few years back. Got a little irritated with them over a few issues.

I joined up again today.

We have to fight the communists PLUS the morons like Marg Helgenberger and even a few well-meaning hand wringers.

Oh, and the media.

I'll stand with the NRA.

Regardless of which organization you join, NRA or GOA, join one or both. Gun owners need to get vocal and exercise our considerable economic power against businesses that spit on our rights.

Letters to the editor, physical and online, letters, emails, and calls to our congresscritters, municipal meetings and such all need to be used.

The time for live and let live (so to speak) is over. We need to find a method for holding persons who attack our rights accountable. Whether that is politically or economically I really don’t have a preference.

We need to use any method that will work IMO.

Hard to say it any better than that. We need to be vocal and bring big numbers to the table and we need to do that now.

And fwiw, you can get the NRA membership for $25 on Tom Gresham's GunTalk site. Link's at the bottom of the page. Go hit it.

The NRA helped write the 68' Gun Control Act, no thanks.

You just gave money to the company that wrote and supported every major gun control law on the books and many that got shot down. That’s right, the NRA wrote and supported the 1934 NFA and the 1968 GCA and other laws.

JPFO is an educational org. A 501 (c)(3) org. Statutorily precluded from engaging in most political/lobbying efforts.

I agree with you about the excess NRA mailings. Especially during a “political year.” However, you can contact them and have them remove your name from such mailings.

Total horsesh*t and a red herring - The NRA was forcibly restructured under Neal Knox and Harlon Carter in 1977 expressly because of the previous organizational leadership's support for gun restrictions.

The modern NRA-ILA has nothing in commmon with the pre-1977 version except the name.

Oh yes!

We are teaching ladies to shoot in lots of different places. Nancy in South Dakota has taught literally hundreds in the past several months. She is our ladies’ learn to shoot class “queen”—LOL!

We hold these classes in Texas, Tennessee, Massachusetts and several other places around the country—where we have state coordinators. We usually charge $35 for these one on one classes, and that includes a one yr. membership in our organization.

In most states, we are able to get the range, NRA qualified trainers and ammo donated. Then we get the loan of lots of different handguns so each lady can try out several guns and find the best one for her. One of the biggest mistakes a woman can make is to buy a gun without trying it out. If it’s wrong for her, she might can return it, but usually she takes a big loss, because now it is a “used” gun.

Of course we aren’t yet the NRA, but our membership is really growing, and most members renew every year.

We have quite a few males members also—we don’t discriminate. Of course, they don’t have voting privileges, but that doesn’t seem to matter to them.

We also offer family memberships for $50 no matter how many are in the family.

We put out a very nice Newsletter 3 or 4 times a year and mail them out to all our members.

The other way we are different from the NRA is that we do not spam your mail box asking for donations. We have had 2 fund raising letters in our 12 year history. About the only snail mail a member receives from us is once a year we send out renewal letters.

We are all volunteers and work mainly in cyberspace. There are no big salaries in this organization.

Our purpose is to do our part to help save the 2A. The more women we train to shoot, the more they will work on the effort to save our rights.

That’s total horsesh*t! Same company but they reforged so they are let off the hook??!! When the NRA fights to repeal the NFA and GCA let us know but until then they are still responsible for their actions. What an idiot you must be to fall for some bz like that.

The pro RKBA cabal staged a hostile takeover at the 1977 annual meeting, it wasn't a minor realignment.

Harlon Carter and and Neal Knox have done more to preserve your RKBA than anybody else you can name and you don't even know who they were.

After being a gun owner for many, many, years and not being a member of the NRA, I finally joined last year. Almost immediately I received unsolicited merchandise from them in the form of a DVD. I had decided not to be inconvenienced by sending it back since I didn’t ask to be sent it in the first place. That resulted in a series of nagging letters asking for payment. Sleazy practices like that really irk me. I eventually did send it back, but I decided that I would not renew and didn’t renew when I got my renewal notice a couple of weeks ago. I’ll probably end up joining the GOA.

We haven’t spent a lot of time discussing it. Money is always a problem. We will make a decision before long.

Do you know of anyone else that is planning a march on DC?

Gun Owners of America is a better place to put your money.

Better? Why? What have they accomplished on their own? Why don't the leftist gun grabbers fear them like they do the NRA?
