Favorite Beverages of our Freepers??

Posted on 01/01/2013 11:15:42 AM PST by SamAdams76

I have often wondered what preferences of beverages the various Freepers have, in particular, the kind of intoxicating liquors they tried to ban back in 1920. I know by reading stories on here that many of us consume intoxicating liquors from time to time and we may even have some Freepers who have accumulated some POIs over the years (posting under the influence). Obviously, don't post your favorite intoxicating liquor if you do not want to, but I just thought it would be interesting to see our beverage choices. Especially the morning after many of us quite possibly overindulged on same the night before...wait, is it afternoon already? Darn. Having breakfast at 1PM always throws me off my game.

If you don't drink intoxicating liquors at all, feel free to tell us what beverages you do drink. Milk, apple juice, sarsaparilla? Your reply might be boring to us but let us know anyhow if you feel so inclined to share.

In response to all the other nutty threads here today seeking personal information on Freepers, I am 50, have brown hair, hazel eyes, weigh 225 pounds and I prefer female company. My waist size is 40, my shoe size is 12 and yes, I do need to keep an eye on my blood pressure. I own a dog, a cat and no, I do not snore. As for intoxicating liquors, I prefer madeira wine, Samuel Adams seasonals, Frangelico hazelnut liqueur, 100% agave tequila and the occasional bottle of champagne. But preferably not all together at the same time as what happened last night. As of this moment my favorite beverage is Gatorade.

I love diet Vernor’s Ginger Ale. Sometimes I ad a shot of vanilla vodka to it. Vernor’s frequently makes me sneeze, not sure if it’s the ginger or the little bubbles.

Many years ago during one summer in Ohio, I lived on Genny Cream ale and Black Velvet.

Just seeing the name "Genessee" brings bile up my throat.

Impeach the kenyan or secession.

I think it’s a safe assumption that Genny has brought quite a diverse amount of things into peoples throats.

Bile, lunch, dinner, Doritos, pizza....

But it also caused amnesia. Because a few hours later we did it all again ;)

Luckily roaches are not as common as they were in the Bronx. I haven’t seen a single one since we moved to Long Island in 1980.

10 in 10 years? What about other bugs. I’m a total bug phobe. Lucky for me, my Mary loves to catch and eat(ew)anything that moves.

You could only imagine the dreadful scene when I have to take a spider out. Oh, the horror!

There are bugs, but nothing I have seen as obnoxious.

For me, the joy is... NO SNOW AND LITTLE COLD.

And a red state with actual firearms rights.

Vernor’s is in Florida now?

Yep. I've only found it at Winn Dixie though (when it's not sold out).

Put it like this: I have never regretted my move. Nothing could convince me to move back to New York. Nothing.

I like the firearms rights, as well as the red. Now you have me in the same state I was contemplating TX or SC!!

-Take 1 frosty quart canning jar out of the freezer
-squeeze in half a big lime, drop the rind in
-smack the bottom of a bottle of Lee and Perrin’s into the tumbler ten times
-ditto for a bottle of Bufalo salsa para botanas
-cover this with a layer of 5 peppercorn fresh ground pepper
-add two shakes of garlic powder
-two shakes of ground fennel seed
-three fingers of your favorite vodka
-fill the tumbler 4/5 full with tomato juice from any brand in a plastic bottle
-stir
-add ice cubes to the brim

Sit back, throw your feet up and let the finest Bloody Mary on the planet salve the cares of a demented world.

From Real Beer.com “Jan 7, 2005 - Pittsburgh Brewing Co. plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Olde Frothingslosh - the “pale, stale ale with foam on the bottom - with a limited edition can commemorating the beer that began as a joke.”

Never had it, but I think it was right up there with Iron City of Pittsburgh
