Giving up on Drudge for a while ....
vanity | 1/6/2013 | vanity

I'm giving up on Drudge report for a while, not going to visit it.

There is too much subtext going on, incitement and hyperbole, propaganda and manipulation. The picture that often accompany headlines are not in context with the 'moment' but rather stock photographs that portrait an emotion or sense of predicament that the author wants us to feel.

Almost every headline for the past few months have been foreboding impending doom of some sort that I don't want to deal with or be reminded about on a daily basis.

Just sticking with Fox News, they temper that stuff down and keep things in reasonable terms. Townhall does similar things that drudge does, so I haven't been visiting them as often as I once did. Politico, I gave up on politico about 4 months back because of their pro-progressive slants. WND, I visit on occasion because I really like Joe Farrah and his writings, but WND in general lacks veracity and is somewhere between a dubious blog and a dubious news outlet.

I like Weasel Zippers for the latest in conservative highlights. But I also still like Drudge.

Does anyone have a way to keep the Drudge page from continually refreshing itself, I suspect to drive the hit count up for its advertisers? Any browser that has a way to prevent that, I am willing to look into!

Drudge “Almost every headline for the past few months have been foreboding impending doom of some sort.”

With good reason. These are dark days. Don’t shoot the messenger. The alternative media, like Drudge and FR, need to put the word out there that a Commie community organizing President, Dim Senate, gutless Republican party, and weak Supreme Court are taking us down the drain.

I’ll never give up as long as there’s breath in my lungs, but these are dark days for freedom lovers.

I’ve seen their stuff occasionally, but I’ve bookmarked it and will give it a look.

I know what you mean. But it's just not Drudge, Breitbart and even a certain percentage of the population on here as well.

Take the gun control issue for instance, the issue is near and dear to me. I've been working with local pro gun groups and contacting both my state and national reps on a daily basis. Yet instead of taking constructive action, there seems to be a large percentage who would rather declare the issue lost and head to the bunker or the hills or whatever. I've seen more than my share of breathless articles about how Obama is going to ban all guns by executive order or send out the military to search house by house for guns or some other nonsense.

Why would anyone care what you watch? It’s suppose to be a free country (at least in theory).

It’s not the truth when Drudge creates a headline about a current event, then posts a picture caption from 18 months ago to instill a false sense of emotion about the event.

Case in point, how many times does Drudge post a picture of Obama seemingly laughing it up as a caption to a headline that states x and x bill passed?

Or how many times did he post that picture of Newt Gingrich with his face buried in his hands captioning a head line negative about Newt?

Or how about a picture of a irritatingly happy and jolly Nancy Pelosi captioning one of her stupid observations?

Today it’s about the ‘epidemic’, 9 months ago it was the Greek catastrophe that was going to bring down the world, just prior it was the [yawn] fiscal cliff that will usher in a 3rd term for Obama.

You want to be manipulated, go ahead and start your day with drudgereport. See how long you live or how long it incites an unbalanced person to go to a grade school with knifes, grenades and Semi-automatic weapons.

Haha, yep. Anyone else ever notice that Drudge’s headlines are like the opening text in Red Dawn? “Worst wheat harvest in 40 years”...

FR and Drudge are great news aggregates.
There used to be another one I use “White Raven”

I miss Drudges weekly radio show.
Not every one gets his wit on the website.

While there’s plenty of dark news to report, I get the impression that Drudge’s traffic is off. The hype knob got turned up a few notches to churn up a few more clicks.

I get on line, I link to the DR. I will continue this. I remember when he started the attack on Clinton that got him impeached and I remembered when he spoke up against Arnold’s Pro Choice stance.

Link to the DR 10 times a day.
