>>Though names have been changed (even the show is renamed Project Icon), with a disclaimer that any similarities to the real show are ‘coincidental’, the book’s characters bear an overtly suspicious resemblance to judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, Randy Jackson and host Ryan Seacrest. <<

Hola, Twin! :-D

Minaj seems to be tolerable so far. Even if she wasn't, it would take more than her for me to give up the thread :)

Paula was a judge on Dancing with the Stars and it was snark worthy.

She did an interesting dance on the show

To increase on-screen drama, and to make it look as natural as possible, producers manipulate contestants before they perform with the strategy: ‘Tell the singer the very opposite of the truth.’

Hmmm. Our president has the same strategy.

My clock says the story of this guy started earlier than 36 minutes

Though, I do have to say his story isn’t pathetic. It is pretty traumatic.

But you are deemed the winner.

I guess I may be de-sensitized, having worked with so many soldiers sailors, and marines with multiple amputations and brain injuries...I guess I dont see his amputation as something to be “advertised” on his attempted climb to the top.

A guitar playing amputee. Sings a pretty good Bon Jovi tune.

All the judges agree he's not quite ready for this yet, though.

Mariah: You inspire me as a human being.

Keith: You strike me as a person that won't give up.

He was good, IMO. He might not have made it past Hollywood, but he at least deserved the ticket.

What bothers me is he could have just walked up there in slacks and sang. he has a good, professional voice.

From here until the end is it “are we voting the singing or the story?”

We all here have had adversity — some great adversity. We didn’t pimp it to get ahead.

And if this guy wins (doubtful), the whispers will be “your story won — your talent in 3rd or 4th place.”

The story would be more impressive if released AFTER the competition completes or he is eliminated.

Did AI film the back story on the amputee between the stadium tryout and the judges tryout ... or did they grab him after he did not get the yellow paper and say, "Hey, we're sorry you didn't make it to Hollywood, but could we film your story anyway?"

Just wondering.
