Next week's theme is Motown?

Time to wheel out Stevie Wonder again.

Oh yeah. I had blocked that out. I wonder how he'll work Obama into the lyrics this time.

Wow, Jimmy is giving a real smack down to everyone tonight. Good for him. And he knows the ratings are tanking this year so they better regroup and get it in gear.

It would give this show a HUGE boost if they made him a judge*--and if he was as blunt with the truth as he was tonight. This "I know that you tried--I commend your courage" stuff is weak.

*replacing Minaj of course :)

I kinda like Jimmy giving his critique, since I am sick to death of “Yow ya doin my wittew wadybug......I wuv you.....” and “That is one of my favorite songs” No, This is one of my favorite songs...” “you look so pretty”....

AMEN.

I’m not a Minaj fan... but at least she’ll say it was bad.

I do agree with that. As annoying as she is, she's the only one that will say something sucked.

Keith doesn't bother me--he seems to have stopped trying to dissect every performance like he's trying to solve a murder. But Mariah might as well not be there at all. Like someone else on the thread said, "A million words to say nothing."

I am sorry, but I am cracking up by myself listening to Lazaro talk. The poor guy...and yup, he get’s the pity vote.

Not to be rude, but why do they ask Lazaro questions that require more then a yes or no answer? It just gets awkward for everyone.

Either he's doing it on purpose, or Idol being the manipulators that they are, knowingly ask him these questions so his stutter will be on full display.

I noticed last night when Kree joined Lazaro on the safe side of the stage, he said something to her that was caught on mic. Part of it was bleeped but it didn't sound like he stuttered at all.

The pity vote will definitely keep La la la lazzzzzaro in the comp probably for a couple more rounds. But like you I am starting to wonder if any of this is just for sympathy votes. No doubt he would lose to Kree or Angie or Candice. But if he keeps on singing at this level and still wins, Idol will become a total joke and be gone.

Don't know it you noticed..but when the bottom three were standing together, Amber had this incredibly PO'd look on her face, like she was gonna spit nails..probably thinking t herself "WHY am I here when that fool ass Lazaro ain't..." That girl is NOT a happy camper..

I think that Deven will actually make the final four, possibly top three..simply because teen and pre-teen girls do the majority of the voting, and he's the only cute guy to vote for.

That guy who plays van Alden is such a good actor. I hate him. I mean his character. That drowning the Jew scene was very close to too painful to watch.

Good to see you, Yaelle :)

That guy who plays van Alden is such a good actor. I hate him. I mean his character. That drowning the Jew scene was very close to too painful to watch.

I had to fast-forward through that one too. It was ridiculous. That entire character is ridiculous. They go out of their way to make sure we know he's a "Christian" (at least HBO's idea of what a Christian is), so of course he has to be a murdering psychopath adulterer.

It would have been much more interesting to have one character on the show that keeps his values and doesn't give in to all the depravity around him.

I see it a little differently. Where I think most people in the show are a very murky combo of good and bad, Van Alden sees everything in complete black and white and there is absolutely no grey area at all, including his own thoughts and actions. IMO, he has no concept at all how to handle emotions. He feels rage at Sesbo and instead of turning him in, he kills him. Feeling lonely, instead of finding comfort in his wife, goes out and finds an easy girl. Instead of coming clean to the US attorney, he runs and changes his identity. He can’t do anything a little bit. Everything is the most extreme thing possible.

In the 3rd season, the new “wife” seems to be better for him in terms of getting him to relax and be more in the grey area, but then..um things happen. SJ have you watched season three yet? You must!

Agree. The show keeps getting better and better.

The way they keep revealing new quirks in the characters, and the shockers
of what happens make it very worthwhile.

Have seen Arnold Rothstein character start to show up in a couple of other
films, shows etc.

Funny when you think of him as Arnold, and see him as someone else :) ;)

Hi :)

I haven't seen season 3 yet. Have to wait for the DVDs.

It just irritates me. A Christian portrayed on TV now has to be extreme. Just like anyone in the military or who is a veteran has to be shown as a victim, a lunatic or a brainless robot.

If HBO really wanted to push the envelope, they'd have a Christian character who is actually a Christian and displays the fruit of the Spirit in his behavior: "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control". That would be a HUGE contrast to everything going on around him and it would make his character unique. But Van Alden isn't unique. He's just another Hollywood stereotype.

Sorry for the rant. That's been building up for a while, lol
